Ada Mae Anthony
=Ada Mae Anthony died Thursday, April 3, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. She was 86.
Mrs. Anthony lived most of her life in Vicksburg and Warren County. She was a nurse, having worked at Vicksburg Infirmary Hospital and the clinic of Dr. Donald S. Hall Sr. She was a member of the Deborah Sunday school class at First Baptist Church, Order of the Eastern Star and Rebekah Lodge.
She was preceded in death by husbands, Ralph Cates, Emil Lagg and Ed Anthony; a daughter, Marjorie Cates Montgomery; two grandchildren, Judy Guion and Lisa Guion; seven brothers; and four sisters.
She is survived by a daughter, Carol Lagg Guion of Baton Rouge; a son, Arthur Lagg of Vicksburg; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Fisher Funeral Home Chapel with Jim Hess officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the service Saturday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Lawrence Muirhead, Barry Lagg, Ralph Severe, Donald Muirhead, Bryan Lagg, J.R. Dickerson and Everett Gibson.
Honorary pallbearers will be the great-grandsons.

Augustina Hernandez
LAKE PROVIDENCE Augustina Hernandez died Wednesday, April 2, 2003, at North Monroe Hospital. She was 89.
Born in Mercedes, Texas, Mrs. Hernandez was a resident of Lake Providence.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Manuel Hernandez; a son, Richard Hernandez; and her parents, Encarnacion Saldana and Angelita Saldana.
Survivors include three sons, Ray Hernandez, Rene Hernandez and Roy Hernandez, all of Lake Providence; three daughters, Mary Villarreal of Edcouch, Texas, Tommie Perez of La Feria, Texas and Delfina Cotts of Lake Providence; two brothers, Joe Saldana and Benigno Saldana, both of Tallulah; three sisters, Felipa Lopez of Alsatia, La., Maria Pena of Edcouch and Angelina Aldana of Elsa, Texas; 31 grandchildren; 91 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Lake Providence with the Rev. Joseph Zacharius officiating. Burial will follow at Providence Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Cox Funeral Home in Lake Providence.
Visitation will be until 10 tonight with a rosary at 7 at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be the grandsons.
Faye Orr Hill
BRANDON Faye Orr Hill died Wednesday, April 2, 2003, at Brandon Court Nursing Home in Brandon. She was 83.
Born in Harrison, Ark., Mrs. Hill lived in Brandon. She was a Vicksburg resident from 1939 until 1998. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and took part in the Meals on Wheels program.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Emory Hill.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda Hill of Brandon; a sister, Ruby Evans of Santa Maria, Calif.; and a granddaughter, Christine Hill of Alexandria, Va.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Harrison Morgan officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 until 6 tonight at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Dr. Waverly Artz, Eugene Wylie, Leiland Duke and Bob Cunny.

Don Lester Short
ROLLING FORK Don Lester Short died Sunday, March 30, 2003, at Grenada Lake Medical Center. He was 53.
Mr. Short was a resident of Rolling Fork and a security guard.
Survivors include his wife, Beache Short of Rolling Fork; his mother, Ada Lee Short of Cincinnati, Ohio; two sons, Alvin Short of Anguilla and Michael Short of Mayersville; two daughters, Janice E. Short of Anguilla and Jennifer Short of Rolling Fork; a brother, the Rev. Johnny Short of Kankakee, Ill.; six sisters, Doris Heath of Vicksburg, Patricia Short of Indianapolis, Ind., Lizzie Richardson of Arcola, Miss., and Gloria Bromn, Mamie Brown and Ester Brown, all of Chicago; five grandchildren; and other relatives including, Mary L. Blue of Port Gibson.
Services will be at noon Saturday at Mount Lula M.B. Church in Rolling Fork with the Rev. Johnny Short officiating. Burial will follow at Nitta Yuma Cemetery under the direction of Walker Funeral Home in Rolling Fork.
Visitation will be from 6 until 7 tonight at Adell Memorial Chapel at the funeral home.
Bernice Ward
PORT GIBSON Services for Bernice “Burn” Ward will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Philadelphia M.B. Church in Pattison with the Rev. Leroy Dee officiating. Burial will follow at Philadelphia Cemetery.
Mrs. Ward died Monday, March 31, 2003, in Vicksburg. She was 62.
A resident of Claiborne County, Mrs. Ward was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Jennie Gray; her father, Fred Rogers Sr.; her stepmother, Minnie Lee Rogers; and her maternal grandparents, Caroline and Walter Gray.
Survivors include her husband, Jessie Charles Ward of Port Gibson; three sons, Henry Lee Ward of Port Gibson, Jerry Ward of Vicksburg and Timi Ward of Natchez; seven daughters, Ida Mae Rogers, Jessica Ward, Beatrice Ward, Jacqueline Ward, Toni Ward and Linda Johnson, all of Vicksburg, and Joann Ward of Port Gibson; two brothers, Fred Rogers Jr. of Pattison and Bennie Lee Rogers of Fayette; nine sisters, Clara Rogers, Lillie L. Rogers and Jeanette Conrad, all of Natchez, Georgia Brown of Tallulah, JoAnn Davis of Newellton, Emma L. Valentine of Vallejo, Calif., Johnnie M. Gray of Chicago, Shirley Adams of Vicksburg and Carolyn Byther of Pattison; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
