Will Towns Anderson

FAIRHOPE, Ala. Will Towns Anderson died Saturday, May 24, 2003, in Mobile, Ala. He was 80.

A former Warren County tax assessor, Mr. Anderson was a native of Union Church and had lived in Fairhope, Ala., for a number of years. He was a veteran of the Navy and served with the SeaBees from 1941 until 1945.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Ann Anderson; two daughters, Cathy Anderson-Giles of Fairhope and Valerie Ann Smithhart of Vicksburg; one son, Daniel Towns Anderson of Mobile; two brothers, Harry Anderson of Fayette and Scott Anderson of Natchez; a sister, Caroline Cox of Baton Rouge; and three grandchildren.

Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Shelton Cemetery in Pattison. Burial will follow under the direction of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home.

Carl W. Blue

PERT, Texas Carl W. Blue died Thursday, May 22, 2003, in Jacksonville, Texas. He was 81.

A former resident of Vicksburg, Mr. Blue had lived in Pert, Texas, for the past 18 years. He was a 1942 graduate of Carr Central High School and served in the Army Air Corps as a gunner during World War II. He was a member and deacon of First Baptist Church in Neches, Texas. He was retired from Texas Eastern Gas Corporation in Houston.

Survivors include his wife, Hazel; three sons; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Richard Blue of Baxley, Ga.; and two nephews, Harold Blue of Vicksburg and Richard Blue Jr. of Burlington, N.C.

Graveside services were held in Hazlehurst, Miss., on Sunday.

Naomi Henderson McCollough

Services for Naomi “Nan” Henderson McCollough will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Zion Travelers M.B. Church. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-7 tonight at Williams Funeral Service.

Mrs. McCollough died Thursday, May 22, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. She was 57.

She was a member of Greater Mount Olive M.B. Church. She was a nurse at River Region and an Army veteran.

She was preceded in death by her parents, the Rev. J.H. Henderson and Willie Mae Green Henderson; and a brother, J.W. Henderson.

Survivors include her husband, Floyd McCollough of Vicksburg; a son, Anthony Parker of Memphis; two brothers, Larry Henderson and Arthur Henderson, both of Vicksburg; three sisters, Julia Henderson and Carlene Henderson, both of Vicksburg and Vinette Henderson of Tallulah; a granddaughter; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

Flora G. Moore

Flora G. Moore died Saturday, May 24, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. She was 65.

A native and resident of Vicksburg, Mrs. Moore retired as a teacher from the Vicksburg Warren School District. She was a member of Mount Ararat M.B. Church and the Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by her father, Philip Green.

She is survived by a son, Kenneth Moore of Southfield, Mich.; two daughters, Katrina Moore of Vicksburg and Kathy Moore Washington of Stone Mountain, Ga.; her mother, Florence Bingham Green of Vicksburg; two sisters, Roberta Denham of Vicksburg and Mary Florence Jones of Detroit; a brother, Willie Green of Vicksburg; two grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and other relatives, including Nicie Young.

Robert William Moore Sr.

Robert William Moore Sr. died Sunday May 25, 2003, at St. Dominic Memorial Hospital in Jackson. He was 90.

A native of Rankin County, Mr. Moore was the son of James Samuel and Willie Mae Thomas Moore. He lived in Vicksburg from 1932 until 1982 when he moved to Pearl. He retired in 1975 from the Warren County Highway Department after 32 years of service. He was a member of Pearl United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Carrie Mae Pearson; three brothers, Ernest Moore, Sam Moore and Albert Moore; and two sisters, Dolly Wilkerson and Louise Mangum.

Survivors include his wife, Minnie D. Moore of Pearl; four daughters, Nancy Jean Kinstley of Brandon and Betty Ann Pearson, Mildred Baylot and Robbie Franklin, all of Pearl; one son, Robert William Moore Jr. of Brandon; a brother, Edward Moore of Vicksburg; and 25 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 28 great-great-grandchildren and six great-great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Riles Funeral Home with the Revs. Scott Larsen and Van Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 until 7 tonight at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be William Guthrie, Paul Barrett, John Pennington, Charlie Thompson, Charles Courtney and Mike Mangum.

Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons and Earl Mitchell, Mitch Childers and Elbert Redditt.
