MAYERSVILLE Eddie Franklin Carter Sr. died Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2003, at his home in Mayersville. He was 99.

Mr. Carter is survived by four sons, Columbus Carter and Anderson Carter, both of Chicago, Eddie Carter Jr. of Memphis and Will C. Carter III of Little Rock, Ark.; two daughters, Alma Middleton of Memphis and Dorothy Carter of Mayersville; a brother, Jeremiah Blackwell Sr. of Mayersville; a sister, Marie Sharp of St. Louis, Mo., and 29 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Rose Hill M.B. Church in Mayersville with Pastor Jeff Wallace officiating. Burial will follow at Moon Lake Cemetery under the direction of Mitchell L. Walker Funeral Home in Rolling Fork.

Visitation will be Saturday from noon until the service at the church.

Roxie Pauline Smith

Roxie Pauline Smith died Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. She was 88.

A homemaker, Mrs. Smith was a member of First Baptist Church in West Memphis, Ark.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Lester Smith Sr.

She is survived by three daughters, Mary K. Martin of Vicksburg, Patricia Blankenship of West Memphis and Jo Lynn Garner of Divide, Colo.; two sons, William P. Finton of Haughton, La., and Thomas L. Smith Jr. of Sikeston, Mo.; a sister, Bess Fink of Panama City, Fla.; and 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home in West Memphis. Burial will follow at Crittenden Memorial Park in Marion, Ark.

Visitation will be from 7 until 9 tonight at the funeral home.
