Lillie Price Oatis

Lillie Price Oatis died Thursday, Nov. 13, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. She was 83.
A native of Nitta Yuma, Mrs. Oatis was a housewife and homemaker and a longtime resident of Vicksburg. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church of Bovina.
Mrs. Oatis was preceded in death by her husband, Bersie Oatis; a son, Exell Foster; a daughter, Jessie Mae Magsby; two sisters; and one brother.
She is survived by her sister, Mary White of Greenville; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Robbins Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Matthew Orlvin Jr.
DETROIT Matthew “Matt” Orlvin Jr. died Monday, Nov. 10, 2003, at St. John-McComb County Hospital in Detroit. He was 83.
A former resident of Vicksburg, Mr. Orlvin was an electrician retired from General Motors and a World War II veteran of the Navy. He was of the Baptist faith.
Mr. Orlvin was preceded in death by a daughter, Annie Rush; and his parents, Matthew Orlvin Sr. and Lillie Jones.
He is survived by his wife, Louise Johnson Orlvin of Detroit; a daughter, Janie Smith of Delta Junction, Alaska; a brother, Willie Moore of Lansing, Mich.; four grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home in Vicksburg with the Rev. Elzie O’Neal officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Roberta Young
EDWARDS Roberta “MaBert” Young died Saturday, Nov. 8, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. She was 108.
Mrs. Young was the daughter of the late Robert and Dissie Minifield of Utica.
Mrs. Young was a homemaker and a member of Bethlehem M.B. Church and a former member of White Oak Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Young; a daughter, Carrie Allen; a sister, Mary Ann Lawson; and a grandson, Willie James “Little Son” Young.
She is survived by 13 grandchildren, including Shirley Saul Warner and Gendolyn Davis; 11 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Bethlehem M.B. Church in Edwards. Burial will follow at Mount Moriah M.B. Church Cemetery in Edwards with Peoples Funeral Home of Jackson in charge.
