Ruby E. Sanders
Ruby E. Sanders died Sunday, Dec. 21, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. She was 81.
Born in Silver City, Miss., Mrs. Sanders was a former resident of Anguilla and had lived in Vicksburg for the past 60 years. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J.C. Sanders; a daughter, Patricia Whatley; and three grandchildren, Cynthia Pritchard, Susan Harris and Michael Sanders.
Survivors include four sons, Jack Sanders and Billy Wayne Sanders, both of Vicksburg, Donald Sanders of Lucedale, Miss., and Emmett Sanders of Sicily Island, La.; five daughters, Mary Nell Bass of Huntsville, Ala., Betty Jean Parta of Slidell, La., and Joann Harris, Nancy Nettles and Debra Breland, all of Vicksburg; a sister, Penny Burns of Jupiter, Fla.; 26 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Glenwood Funeral Home with Dr. Chip Starnes officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 9 p.m. Tuesday until the service at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be James R. Davis, Tracy A. Davis, William Breland, Sgt. Daniel Sanders, Staff Sgt. Roy Pettway, Gregory Sanders, Larry Barrett and Ricky Whatley.
Charlotte O. Tankesly
Charlotte O. Tankesly died Sunday, Dec. 21, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. She was 48.
Born in Greenville, Miss., Mrs. Tankesly had been a Vicksburg resident since 1978. She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Allen Tankesly; her parents, Chuck Joiner and Frances Crippen; and a brother, Andy Joiner.
Survivors include her husband, Ed Tankesly of Vicksburg; three daughters, Ann Daniels of Raleigh, N.C., Tina Holeman of Lucedale, and Cathy Johnson of Pearl; three sisters, Deborah Yarbrough of Shaw, Miss., Lisa Mancini of Cleveland, Miss., and Angie Newton of Memphis; and six grandchildren.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Glenwood Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be John Theiler, Wesley Blair, Charles Williams, Jesse Barnett, W.H. Wigley and Ike Barnes.
Edna H. White
DUNN, La. Edna H. White died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2003. She was 89.
Born in Little Rock, Miss., Mrs. White was a resident of Dunn, La.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Herrington and Daisy Christine Coughran Parks; her husband, Elbert Lee White; a sister, Mary Ann Green; and two grandchildren, Kathryn Jean Johnson and Matthew David Decker.
Mrs. White is survived by three daughters; Lois Jean Crawley of Trinity, Texas, Ruby Ann Decker of Richmond, Va., and Carol Sue Johnson of Altus, Okla.; two brothers, Jack Parks of Rayville, La., and Hiram Oliver “Pop” Parks of Albuquerque, N.M.; three sisters, Trudy Jane Joiner, Hattie Melvina Green and Joyce Lou Davis, all of Delhi; and five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Dunn Baptist Church with the Rev. Eddie Fuller and Dennie Johnson Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Faith Memorial Park Cemetery near Delhi under the direction of Cox Funeral Home.
Visitation will be today at the church.
Pallbearers will be Hugh Green, Hughie Green, Melvin Green, Wayne Green, Bilbo Davis and Mike Southall.
Ellen Lovie White
TALLULAH Ellen Lovie White died Friday, Dec. 19, 2003, at St. Joseph Hospital in Houston, Texas. She was 93.
Born in Tangipahoa Parish, La., Mrs. White lived in Tallulah for 40 years before moving to Houston in 1950. She worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company and was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Ernestine Spells.
Survivors include two daughters, Lou Armand of Houston and Erma Harper of Leesville, La.; and a son, Andrew White of Houston.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. John Rushing officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the funeral home.
