Bertie Mae Varner

OAK GROVE Bertie Mae Varner died Friday, Jan. 24, 2003, at Carroll Nursing Home in Oak Grove. She was 94.
Mrs. Varner was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin Varner, and her parents, Charlie Alexander Harper and Fannie Abernathy.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, B.F. and June Varner of Oak Grove and Charles L. and Jo Varner of Willis, Texas; a daughter and son-in-law, Marlene Slayter and James Herndon of Rock Hill, S.C.; a brother, Clyde Pevytoe of Cresent City, Calif.; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 4 p.m. today at Cox Chapel in Oak Grove with the Rev. Gayle Riles officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Jones, Ed Bain, Joel House, Randy Gregory, Dennis Seamans and Pop Crosby.
Alice Atkins White
OAK GROVEAlice Atkins White died Friday, Jan. 24, 2003, at Carroll Nursing Home in Oak Grove. She was 93.
Mrs. White was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Denmon White; her parents, George W. and Cora Valka Bonner; a son, Derrall White, and three grandchildren.
She is survived by four sons, George S. White of Oak Grove, Frank White of Epps, La., Larry B. White of Jones, La., and Phillip D. White of Oak Grove; three daughters, Cora W. Vining of Pioneer, La., Sue Owens of Oak Grove and Paula W. Wilkerson of Glencoe, Okla.; a brother, Douglas Bonner of Shreveport; 21 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Macedonia Baptist Church in Oak Grove with the Rev. Mike Howard officiating. Burial will follow at Macedonia Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
Betty F. Wilson
Betty F. Wilson died Saturday, Jan. 25, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. She was 66.
Miss Wilson was born in Oktibbeha County and had lived in Vicksburg since 1957. She was a retired legal secretary and a member of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by four sisters, Helen Sweat of Blytheville, Ark., Ann Hill of Monroe, La., Rosemary Crawford of Vicksburg and Kate Worsham of Red Banks, Miss.; a brother, Steve L. Wilson of Vicksburg; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Cedar Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Terry White, pastor of Bowmar Baptist Church, officiating.
Visitation will be from 1:30 p.m. Monday until the hour of the service at Riles Funeral Home.
