Robert Earl Moss
OAK GROVE Robert Earl Moss died Thursday, March 27, 2003, at West Carroll Memorial Hospital in Oak Grove. He was 54.
Mr. Moss was a resident of Oak Grove.
He was preceded in death by his son, Robert Lee Moss; and his father, Earl Moss.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Moss of Oak Grove; four daughters, Melanie Halford, Hope Craft, and Lacie Hawsey, all of Oak Grove, and Meredith Linzay of Alexandria, La.; two sisters, Carol McClendon and Terri Moss, both of Oak Grove; a brother, Beanie Moss of Oak Grove; his mother, Katherine Moss; six grandchildren; and other relatives.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Cox Funeral Home Chapel in Oak Grove with the Rev. Jimbo Herring officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.
Visitation will be until the service today at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Kiley Thames, Ronald Goodwin, Harvey Elliott, Lamar Frith, Herchel Bounds and Karon Colquette.
Carine Dunbar Owens
FAYETTE Carine Dunbar Owens died Thursday, March 27, 2003, at her home in Fayette. She was 72.
Born in Jefferson County to the late Willie Dunbar and Floranna Bearden-Dunbar, Mrs. Owens was a member of Pine Grove United Methodist Church where she served as an ordained church mother.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Owens Sr., and a son, Lenard Owens.
Survivors include a son, Thomas Owens of New Orleans; two daughters, Corine Stanley-Johnson of Fayette and Nancy Butler of Vicksburg; eight grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and other relatives and friends, including Geneva Lewis of Chicago.
Services will be at noon today at Pine Grove United Methodist Church with the Rev. J.L. Hammittee officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Spencer Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the service today at the church.
Pallbearers will be Tom Dunbar Jr., Calvin Hammittee, Willie Hammittee, Russell Hatchett, Johnny Rankin and Cammie Hutchinson.
Honorary pallbearers include Terry Butler Jr., Barry Glass, Edward Johnson, Elbert Owens, Thomas Owens and Patrick Stanley.
Ira T. Spells
TALLULAH Ira T. Spells died Thursday, March 27, 2003, at the Madison Parish Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was 75.
Mr. Spells was born in Bolivar County and lived most of his life in Houston, Texas. He lived seven years in Tallulah. He was a retired river-boat dredge operator.
Survivors include a number of neices and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Smith, Carlton Whitaker, Wallace Samples, Kevin Collins, Greg Collins and Donald Collins.
Visitation will be from noon until 2 today at Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home with services following. The Rev. Fred Fulton will officiate.
Burial will be at Silver Cross Cemetery in Tallulah.
