George Brown

FAYETTE George Brown died Saturday, April 19, 2003, at Jefferson County Nursing Home in Fayette. He was 97.

A resident of Fayette, Mr. Brown was a logger and former employee of Illinois Central Railroad. He was a member of Rose Hill No. 1 Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Shed Brown and Lillie Brown.

Survivors include his wife, Josephine Bennett; two daughters; a son; and other relatives and friends including, Ruby Carter of Fayette.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Rose Hill No. 1 Baptist Church with the Rev. Earnest Ford Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Rollins Funeral Home in Fayette.

Visitation will be from 2 until 6 tonight at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be friends of the family.

William Lish Humble

EPPS, La. William Lish Humble died Wednesday, April 23, 2003, at Richland Parish Hospital in Delhi. He was 92.

A resident of Epps, La., Mr. Humble was a member of Herringville Baptist Church in the Monticello Community and was a farmer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Susie Humble.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Humble of Epps; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Herringville Baptist Church in Monticello, La. with the Rev. Donnie Linson officiating. Burial will follow at Herringville Cemetery under the direction of Cox Funeral Home in Delhi.

Visitation will be from 5 until 9 tonight at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Nelson Burchfield, Jerry Arledge, W.L. Payne, Billy Castilaw, Bruce Castilaw and Tim Castilaw.

Honorary pallbearers will be Morgan Thompson, Charles O’Neal, Runt Trapp and the men of Herringville Baptist Church.

Julia Hunter

Services for Julia Hunter will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Bethlehem M.B. Church in Edwards. Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from noon until the service Saturday at the church.

Ms. Hunter died Monday, April 21, 2003, at Central Mississippi Medical Center. She was 76.

She was a member at Bethlehem M.B. Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bam and Johnnie Cox Hunter; three brothers; and two sisters.

Survivors include a daughter, Johnnie Hunter Holland of Chicago; a sister, Lucille Crump of Edwards; three brothers, Wardell Hunter of Utica, Walter Hunter of Little Rock, Ark., and Roosevelt Hunter of Chicago; two nieces, whom she reared, Sharon Hunter of Irvin, Texas, and Jackie Hunter of Edwards; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and other relatives.

Naperia K. Johnson

Services for Naperia K. “Na Na” Johnson will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Zion Traveler’s M.B. Church with the Rev. Alfred Lassiter officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 7 until 8 tonight at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home.

Naperia died Wednesday, April 23, 2003, at her home. She was 13.

She was an eighth-grader at Warren Central Junior High School. She was a member of Zion Traveler’s M.B. Church, where she was in the junior choir.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Louis and Annie Grady Wolf; her paternal grandparents, Grace Johnson Short and the Rev. F.P. Short; and an aunt, Eunice Grace McKay.

Survivors include her parents, Richard E. Johnson and Cherry Flowers Johnson, both of Vicksburg; a sister, Natica Renee Johnson of Vicksburg; a niece; and other relatives and friends, including the Rev. Alfred Lassiter Jr. of Vicksburg.
