Jeff Alan Arrington

DELTA CITY Jeff Alan Arrington, infant son of David and Lacie Ford Arrington of Delta City, died Friday, July 11, 2003, at Woman’s Hospital in Jackson.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Jeff Arrington.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his paternal grandmother, Eloise Sullivan of Atlanta; his maternal grandmother, Charlotte Ford of Rolling Fork; his maternal grandfather, Joe Ford of Anguilla; and his maternal great-grandmother, Christine Cooper of Rolling Fork.

Private services will be Tuesday in Anguilla with the Rev. Brad Moak officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home of Rolling Fork.

Dorothy Chalker Corley

Dorothy Chalker Corley died Saturday, July 12, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. She was 84.

Mrs. Corley was born in Hawkinsville, Ga., to the late Lewis and Wiloda Ridley Chalker. She was a resident of Augusta, Ga., from 1947 until 1996. She was a retired bookkeeper with CSRA Paving Company in Augusta and a member of the Golden Tone Choir at Hill Baptist Church.

Mrs. Corley moved to Vicksburg in 1997 and was a member of First Presbyterian Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles S. Corley Jr.; and a sister, Nell Cordes.

Survivors include two sons, Don Corley of Statesboro, Ga., and Phil Corley of Vicksburg; and three grandchildren, Jeffrey Corley of Statesboro, Amanda Corley of Starkville and Stephen Corley of Clinton.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Poteet Funeral Home, 3686 Wheeler Road in Augusta, with the Rev. Fred Gunter and Dr. Michael L. Ruffin, of Hill Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Westover Memorial Park in Augusta.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the service Wednesday .

Pallbearers will be John Jenkins, Gary Swint, Wilson Folk, David Harbeson, William Irvin and David Wehner.

Honorary pallbearers will be John Wehner, Dr. Lee Giffin, the nursing staff of River Region Medical Center and the staff of Belmont Gardens.

Memorials may be made to Hill Baptist Church, 2165 Kingsway, Augusta, GA 30904 or to First Presbyterian Church, 1501 Cherry St., Vicksburg, MS 39180.

Herman Johnson

TRANSYLVANIA, La. Herman Johnson died Friday, July 11, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. He was 92.

Born in Smith County, Mr. Johnson was a resident of Transylvania, La.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lula and Mack McCaskill Johnson.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanie Johnson of Transylvania; two sisters, Mattie Mae Waller of Transylvania and Novella Lyons of Shaw, Miss.; two stepsons, James Carroll of Oak Grove and Jerry Carroll of Houston, Texas; a stepdaughter, Sherry Ruffin of Oak Grove; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Cox Chapel in Lake Providence with the Revs. Larry Sterling and V.L. Dickson officiating. Burial will follow at Providence Memorial Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Brad Cupit, Buck Horton, James David Bass, Jason Waller, Hal Waller and Charles Lovell.

Illa Mae Ledford

OAK GROVE Illa Mae Ledford died Saturday, July 12, 2003, at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe. She was 75.

A resident of Oak Grove, she was preceded in death by her parents, James I. and Winnie Mae Wright Tullos; and two brothers, Curtis Alexander Tullos and Aubrey Elco Tullos.

She is survived by two daughters, Patricia Ann Turner of Gulfport and Janet Denise Rose of Oak Grove; two sons, William Paul Ledford II and Jerry Wayne Ledford, both of Monroe; and 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Cox Chapel in Oak Grove with the Rev. Stowe Harbin officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 9 tonight at the funeral home.

Grandsons will be pallbearers.

Muriel Maxine Lovell

Muriel Maxine Lovell died Saturday, July 12, 2003, at Olive Branch Nursing Home in Tallulah. She was 87.

Mrs. Lovell was born in Atlanta, La., and was a resident of Transylvania, La.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Roy Miller, and her parents, Arthur and May Jones Miller.

Survivors include her husband, Archie Lovell of Transylvania; one son, Randy Lovell of Louisville, Ky.; three sisters, Evelyn Vail and Helen Paterno, both of Winnfield, La., and Nita Teddlie of Houston, Texas; and one granddaughter.

Services will be at 4 p.m. today at Transylvania Baptist Church with the Rev. Paul Stephens officiating. Burial will follow at Providence Memorial Cemetery in Lake Providence.

Memorials may be made to the Louisiana Children’s Home in Monroe or to a favorite church library.

Lizzie L. Potts

Lizzie L. Potts died Saturday, July 12, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. She was 68.

Mrs. Potts was a homemaker. She was a member of the Mother Board and was a former church secretary of St. Mark M.B. Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ezell Hass Rider; one brother, Robert Rider; and one sister, Victoria Kline.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph Potts; one son, Joseph W. Potts; one stepson, Larry Thomas of Canton, Mich.; two daughters, Bertha Williams of Jackson, Mich., and Dannetta P. Crasta of Vicksburg; one brother, William Rider of Vicksburg; and four grandchildren.
