Services for Jessie James King will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Caples officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Mr. King died Sunday, June 13, 2004, at Guardian Angel Hospice in Marion, Miss. He was 39.

He was a former employee of the Vicksburg National Military Park.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph King Sr.; his maternal grandparents, Mack and Viola Thomas; and his paternal grandparents, Jessie and Estelle King.

He is survived by a son, Tromaine Versell of Vicksburg; his mother, Willie Mae Hall King of Vicksburg; five brothers, Leroy King of Chicago and Freddie Hall, Michael King, Claude King and Joseph King, all of Vicksburg; 10 sisters, Thelma Hubbard of San Francisco, Calif., and Vera Wheatley, JoAnn King, Brenda Davis, Claudette King, Deborah Hall , Willie’Lean King, Laura Ann King, Lorine King and Lucille Albert, all of Vicksburg; one granddaughter; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including Rochelle Morrow of Vicksburg.

Dorothy Jacobs Harz

Dorothy Jacobs Harz died Wednesday, June 9, 2004, in Clinton. She was 84.

Born in Shelbyville, Tenn., Mrs. Harz had been a Vicksburg resident since 1948. She owned and operated a needlework shop in Vicksburg and was a member of the First Families of Tennessee.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Harz III.

Survivors include two sons, Mercer H. Harz of Atlanta, Ga., and Joseph S. Harz of Clinton; a brother, Jesse P. Jacobs of Sequim, Wash.; and nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Church of the Holy Trinity. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the Parish Hall.

Memorials may be made to the Mississippi School for the Blind.

Stella A. Rawls

UTICA Stella A. Rawls died Sunday, June 13, 2004, at River Region Medical Center. She was 63.

Mrs. Rawls was a resident of Utica.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Mary Dudley White.

Survivors include her husband, G.D. Rawls of Utica; a stepson, James Rawls of Muskegon, Mich.; nine stepdaughters, Ethel Bailey of Muskegon, Bertha Leavy of Kosciusko, Willie Mae Rawls Teles of Houston, Texas, and Eddie Marbra, Adlene Durham, Sweetie Mae Roper, Pearlie Washington, Dorothy Clark and Lucille Rawls, all of Vicksburg; four sisters, Ida Lee Frazier, Pattie Mae Ross and Hanna Mae Ross, all of Utica, and Celeste Ann Ross of Omaha, Neb.; two brothers, George Ross Jr. of Champaign, Ill., and Charles Wesley Frasier of Utica; 15 stepgrandchildren; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends, including Annie Mae “Aunt Bell” Robinson of Utica.

Services will be at noon Saturday at Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Second Union M.B. Church Cemetery in Utica.

Visitation will be from noon until 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Alonzo Singleton

CALUMET CITY, Ill. Services for Alonzo “Candy” “Batman” Singleton will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Zion Travelers M.B. Church in Vicksburg. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 1 until 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. Saturday until the service at the church.

Mr. Singleton died Wednesday, June 9, 2004, at St. Margaret Hospital. He was 64.

Mr. Singleton was born in Edwards and was a resident of Calumet City, Ill. He was of the Baptist faith.

Mr. Singleton was preceded in death by his father, Ulyssess C. Singleton; his stepfather, James E. Elmore; and his maternal grandmother, Minnie Bryant White.

Survivors include his mother, Lucille R. Elmore of Vicksburg; a daughter, Yolanda Singleton of Aurora, Ill.; five sisters, Alma S. Boyd, Eula S. Brown and Mattie Robinson, all of Vicksburg, Daisy Harbour of Flint, Mich., and Matilda Hayes of Shreveport, La.; four brothers, Elex Singleton and John Singleton, both of Vicksburg, and Ulyssess Singleton and Freddie Singleton, both of Flint, Mich.; and nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends, including Sandra Barnes of Chicago, Ill.

Henry Lee Williams Sr.

Henry Lee Williams Sr. died Sunday, June 13, 2004, at his home. He was 51.

Born in Satartia, Mr. Williams had been a Vicksburg resident for the past 30 years. He was the son of the late Henry Lee and Rita Huffman Truelove Williams.

He was a retired sheet-metal employee and a member of New Vision Family Worship Center.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two daughters, Brandy Alline Williams and Christina Nicole Williams; his grandson, Jonathan Anacker; one brother, Amos Cook; and one sister, Lorene Truelove.

Survivors include three daughters, Crystal Lynn Williams and Cherie Michele Williams, both of Vicksburg, and Candi Husley of Biloxi; two sons, Henry Lee Williams Jr. and Christopher John Lee Williams, both of Vicksburg; and a brother, Paul Cook of Vicksburg.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Green Acres Memorial Park with the Rev. Rick McAlister, pastor of New Vision Worship Center, officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Riles Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Friday until the service at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Tim Wood, William Brown, Irvin Harrison, Kenny Staggs Jr., Robert Eugene Carter and Alex Brown.
