Bruce Tyrone Smith

DARIEN, Ga. Bruce Tyrone Smith died Sunday, Feb. 22, 2004, in Darien, Ga. He was 37.

Mr. Smith had lived in Vicksburg for 23 years before moving to Darien. He attended Brunswick High School and was a member of Carpenters Union Local 865.

He is survived by his wife, Robin Thomas Smith of Darien; a son, Phillip Bruce Thomas Smith of Darien; four daughters, Rachel Nicole DeLane Thomas Smith, Rebecka Sheree Thomas Smith, Betsy Lee Ann Thomas Smith and Kelsey Elizabeth Lee Thomas Smith, all of Darien; his mother and stepfather, Ruby and Eddie Heidelberg of Vicksburg; his father and stepmother, Robert and Kristine Smith of Darien; two brothers, Berry Smith and Shawn Smith, both of Darien; two sisters, Gidget Ward of Townsend, Ga., and Tina Whaley of Darien; maternal grandparents, Lawrence and Elizabeth Morson of Vicksburg; and his paternal grandmother, Billie Pearl Bonner of Brunswick, Ga.

Services were at 2 p.m. Feb. 26 at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home in Darien with the Rev. Tommy Whaley officiating. Burial followed at Palmetto Cemetery in Brunswick.

Pallbearers were Scott Haynes, Wesley Walters, Lynn Walters, Artie Anderson, Mitchell Gore, Rock Adam Heidelberg and Ruben Heidelberg.

Honorary pallbearers were Bill Anderson , Steve Miller Sr., Steve Miller Jr., Donnie Rowell, Phillip Heidelberg, Stacy Lane, Buddy Thomas and Rick Brannon.

Elizabeth Duengain Turner

LORMAN Elizabeth Duengain Turner died Friday, March 12, 2004, at Natchez Regional Medical Center. She was 78.

A homemaker and seamstress, Mrs. Turner was a resident of Lorman. She was a member of Rose Hill Christian Church, where she was a youth teacher and church mother. She was past matron of the Heroines of Jericho.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Turner Sr.; her parents, George and Susie Banks Duengain; a sister, Katherine Hall; and a brother, Ruben Walton.

Survivors include six sons, John Turner Jr. and Eddie Charles Turner, both of Lorman, Jonathan Turner and Melvin Turner Sr., both of Fayette, Aaron Turner of Montgomery, Ala., and Earl Lee Turner of Grand Prairie, Texas; three daughters, Delores Turner of Lorman and Martha Lee Turner Dyer and Johnnie Ruth Turner Stewart, both of Cleveland, Miss.; three brothers, George Duengain Jr. of St. Louis, Mo., and Wilson Walton and James Walton, both of Jackson; three sisters, Emma J. Singletary, Carrie M. Singletary and Annie Laura Stroman, all of Brooklyn, N.Y.; 18 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Rose Hill Christian Church in Lorman with Walter Chambers officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 until 7 tonight at Rollins Funeral Home in Fayette.

Pallbearers will be Nathaniel Dyer, Eric Turner, C.M. Dyer III, Reginald Turner, Jeffery Stewart and Cedric Turner.

Honorary pallbearers will be John Turner, Jonathan Turner, Aaron Turner, Eddie Charles Turner, Melvin Turner Sr. and Earl Lee Turner.

Peggy Heggins Wester

DELTA Peggy Heggins Wester died Monday, March 15, 2004, at her home in Delta. She was 66.

Born in Mount Olive, Miss., Mrs. Wester lived most of her life in Vicksburg. She had been a resident of Delta for the past 31 years. She was a retired floral designer for Griffith Florists in Vicksburg and was a member of Bowmar Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald C. Wester; her parents, Lyman and Ina Heggins; two sisters, Katie Mathis and Mildred Jones; and two brothers, Joe Heggins and Ronnie Heggins.

Survivors include a son, James Ray Van Etten of Texarkana, Texas; two daughters, Edna Hazzlerigg of Vicksburg and Paula Joyce Fielder of Edwards; three brothers, Henry Heggins and Billy Heggins, both of Vicksburg, and Johnnie Heggins of Greenwood; five sisters, Helen Henley of Vicksburg, Jeannie Odgen of Delhi, Ancie Greer of Mozelle, Miss., Louise Gasby of Newark, Texas, and Mettie Alexander of Delta; six grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark Rowlen officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Bert Boleware, James Abney, Ron Raggio, John Thomason, Robert Ott and Ed Clark.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Lee Giffen, Ron Halterson, Charles Blakeney, Paul Barrett, Tim Williams, Bobby Johnson and Larry Gathright.
