Helen Louise Freeland
OAK GROVE, La. Helen Louise Freeland died Friday, Dec. 17, 2004 at her home in Oak Grove, La. She was 82.
Ms. Freeland was born in Haiti, Mo., and had lived in Goodwill, La., since 1953. She was a member of the Green Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Eddie Ruth Rutherford; her parents, Alfred Oman Brock and Cecil Ettie Brock, and a sister, Violet McAtee.
She was survived by a son, Oman M. Rutherford of Oak Grove; a brother, Lawrence Brock of Oak Grove; a sister, Lela Heard of Vancouver, Wash.; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Cox Funeral Home chapel in Oak Grove with the Rev. Fred Hale officiating. Burial will follow at Red Wing Cemetery in Oak Grove.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Cole, Bobby Cole, Doug Philley, Stephen Myers, Brandon Dente and Greg Edison.
Billy J. Lovett
Services for Billy J. Lovett will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Fisher Funeral Home with the Rev. Ruth Pugh, pastor of Bible Holiness Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 until 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Mr. Lovett died Thursday, Dec. 16, 2004, at Select Specialty Hospital at Central Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. He was 71.
A native and lifelong resident of Warren County, Mr. Lovett was the son of the late Billy Coty and Pearl Rogers Lovett. He retired as a dispatcher for the Vicksburg Water and Gas Company after 18 years of service. He was a member of Bible Holiness Church.
Survivors include his wife, Odeal Holmes Lovett of Vicksburg; a daughter, Melanie Felsher of Biloxi; two sons, Stephen Lovett of Vicksburg and David Lovett of Gulfport; two sisters, Francis Dement of Mena, Ark., and Elizabeth Townsend of Hattiesburg; a brother, Lawrence Lovett of Vicksburg; three grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Edward Gladwell, Stanley Mullens, David Gladwell, Rex Smithey, Charles Tate and Joshua Pugh.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Crist and Nathan Skipworth.
Victoria Newman
Services for Victoria Newman will be at 11 a.m. Monday at King David No. 1 M.B. Church with the Rev. Abraham Hines officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Robbins Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. until the hour of the service Monday at the church.
Miss Newman died Monday, Dec. 13, 2004, at Shady Lawn Nursing Home. She was 101.
She was a member and mother of King David No. 1 M.B. Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Benny and Loretta Bell Newman; a brother, William McKinley Newman; and a sister, Gertrude Newman Moore.
Survivors include a nephew, James William Newman Sr. of Detroit; a niece, Cariene Moore of Washington, D.C.; and cousins and other relatives and friends, including Bessie Mae Dillard Funchess.
Nellie Mae Putman
OAK GROVE, La. Nellie Mae Putman died Friday, Dec. 17, 2004, at West Carroll Care Center in Oak Grove. She was 103.
Mrs. Putman was preceded in death by her husband, James Putman, and her parents, John Fonden Roberson and Georgia Roberson.
She is survived by two daughters, Lena Willett of Cleveland, Miss., and Lillie Mae Trichell of Oak Grove; a brother, Loyd Roberson of Batesville, Miss.; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Fiske Union Assembly of God with the Rev. Bill Lewis officiating. Burial will follow at Beulah Cemetery in Oak Grove.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Cox Funeral Home in Oak Grove.
Pallbearers will be Ron Willett, Bruce Mills, Larry Sims, Jerry Putman, Ed Putman and Robert Putman.
