Gertrude Green

Gertrude Green died Wednesday, July 28, 2004, at River Region Medical Center. She was 86.

Born in Port Gibson, Mrs. Green was a resident of Vicksburg.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Patsy Moran; her husbands, Elias Winfield and Tom Green; three sons, Tommy Green, Robert Moran Sr. and James Winfield Sr.; and a brother, James Eros Moran.

Survivors include four sons, L.T. Moran Sr., Johnny Moran and Nathan Green, all of Vicksburg, and Willie Green of Kosciusko; four daughters, Patsy Gibbs, Christine Moran Phillips and Azilee Green, all of Vicksburg, and Matilda Miles of Tiptonville, Tenn.; 27 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends, including the Davis, Thomas, Taylor, Smith, Walker and Brown families.

Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Carrie Sadberry Hodge

Carrie Sadberry Hodge died Sunday, July 25, 2004, at her home. She was 86.

Mrs. Hodge was a resident of Vicksburg and a homemaker. She was a member of Wesley Chapel A.M.E.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Hodge Jr.; her parents, Seymore Sr. and Montana Davis Sadberry; a brother, Seymore Sadberry Jr.; and a sister, Mattie Petty.

Survivors include four sons, William Hodge of Cleveland, Ohio, John W. Hodge II of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Barry Hodge and David Hodge, both of Detroit; three daughters, Florence Hodge and Phyllis Baxter, both of Detroit, and Irene Squire of Jackson; a brother, Elijah Sadberry of Boston, Mass.; two sisters, Hazel Jackson and Florence Richardson, both of Kansas City, Mo.; and other relatives and friends, including Rosie Lee Gray of Vicksburg.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Nola Warner Holmes

Services for Nola Warner Holmes will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with the Rev. William Boykin officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home.

Visitation and rosary will be at 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Holmes died Tuesday, July 27, 2004, at River Region Medical Center. She was 84.

Mrs. Holmes was a homemaker and a retired domestic worker. She was a native of Claiborne County and a resident of Vicksburg. She was a member of St. Mary’s Ladies’ Sodality and a member of the Flamingo Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jake P. Holmes; her parents, Louis Sr. and Olivia Green Warner; a brother, C.B. Warner; and three sisters, Verla Warner Bonds, Odessa Warner Ross and Delilah Warner Fletcher.

Survivors include a brother, Louis Warner of Port Gibson; nieces and nephews; and other relatives.
