Frances Alexander

Services for Frances Alexander will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Williams Funeral Service. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the funeral home.

Mrs. Alexander died Saturday, Nov. 6, 2004, at Covenant Health and Rehab. She was 80.

She was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness and a domestic worker.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Sarah Williams.

She is survived by her husband, Ivan Alexander of Rock Island, Ill.; a daughter, Sarah Jackson of Vicksburg; three grandsons, Freddie Matthew Parson, Dewayne Jackson Parson and Elijah Don Parson, all of Vicksburg; two great-grandchildren; and an aunt, Ellen Williams of Springfield, Mass.

Harry Barnes Jr.

Harry Barnes Jr. died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2004, at his home. He was 85.

Mr. Barnes was a veteran of World War II. He was a member of Mount Nebo Lodge No. 3727 and Hog Bayou Hunting Club.

He was a member of Jones Chapel M.B. Church, where he was a former Sunday school superintendent and deacon.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Artimease Barnes; his parents, Harry Sr. and Lillie Canada Barnes; and a sister, Everline DeFrance.

Survivors include two daughters, Melbra Barnes Brown of Vicksburg and Mary Greenwood of Inkster, Mich.; nieces and nephews, including Jacqueline Young, Gloria King and Eddie DeFrance Sr., all of Vicksburg; and other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Zion Travelers M.B. Church. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Saturday at Williams Funeral Service.

Artelia Harris

COLUMBUS, Ohio Artelia “Miss Tee” Harris, formerly of Vicksburg, died Sunday, Nov. 7, 2004, in Columbus, Ohio. She was 96.

Mrs. Harris was a resident of Columbus. She was a former member of Bingham Memorial Baptist Church in Vicksburg, where she served on the Mother Board.

She is survived by a daughter, Willie B. Williams of Los Angeles; nine grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends, including Harvey and Kathy Johnson of Jackson and Catherine Currie of Vicksburg.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at New Fellowship Baptist Church in Columbus under the direction of McNabb Funeral Home of Columbus.

Kelly Hill Jr.

PORT GIBSON Kelly Hill Jr. died Saturday, Nov. 6, 2004, at Claiborne County Hospital. He was 61.

Mr. Hill was a resident of Port Gibson.

He was preceded in death by his father, Kelly Hill Sr.; a brother, Edward Lewis Caston; and a sister, Emma Jean Williams.

Survivors include his wife, Geneva Hill of Port Gibson; his mother, Willie B. Hill of Vicksburg; five daughters, Linda Elaine Bailey of Shreveport, La., and Marie Clark, Shontae Becks, Kewanna Hill and Jacqueline Hill, all of Port Gibson; ten sons, Ronald Hill of Clinton, Herbert Peter Hill of Atlanta, Ga., and Willie Calvin Hill, Michael Bailey, Joseph Hill, Kelly Earl Hill, Antonio LeKent Hill, Miguel Trell Hill, Kelvin Hill and Tierre Hill, all of Port Gibson; six sisters, Willie Mae Walker of Aurora, Ill., and Mary O’Neal, Isabella Heath, Ruthie Anderson, Etta Harris and Rena Washington, all of Vicksburg; four brothers, Bennie Caston of Lansing, Mich., and Shelly Hill, Tommy Caston and Willie Noye, all of Vicksburg; 40 grandchildren, including two he reared, Montre Bailey-Hill and Rosner Buie, both of Port Gibson; six great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Mercy Seat M.B. Church in Port Gibson with the Rev. Larry Clark officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home in Port Gibson.

Visitation will be from 1 until 6 tonight, with family hour from 7 until 8, at the funeral home and from noon Saturday until the service at the church.

Anna Jo Crosthwaite Hobgood

CLINTON, La. Anna Jo Crosthwaite Hobgood died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2004, at the Olive Branch Senior Care Center in Tallulah. She was 92.

Mrs. Hobgood was a native of Moulton, Ala., and received a bachelor of science degree from Alabama College in Montevallo, Ala. She was a resident of Clinton, La., and a member of Clinton United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Chase Hobgood; her parents, Aaron Joseph and Annie Sample Crosthwaite; and two sisters, Nell C. Kimbrough and Mary C. Johnson.

Survivors include a daughter, Linda Hobgood of Clinton; a son, Maj. Gen. William B. Hobgood of Vicksburg; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Charlet Funeral Home in Clinton with the Rev. Ken Bowman officiating. Burial will follow at Masonic Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 until 8 tonight and from 9:30 a.m. Saturday until the service at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Raymond B. Forrest, Brad Hausner, Douglas L. Hays Jr., Richard Hill, Dr. Edward Rhettson Hobgood, Herbert W. Hobgood Jr., Mark L. Kemp and Peary Willard.
