Robert Charles Harrell Sr.

UTICA Robert Charles Harrell Sr. died Monday, Nov. 8, 2004, at his home in Utica. he was 71.

A native of Carthage, Mr. Harrell lived in Jackson for 30 years before moving to the Bear Creek community in Utica 14 years ago. He was a veteran, serving in the Marine Corps.

He was a utility systems operator for GSA and a member of Bear Creek Methodist Protestant Church.

He is survived by his wife, Jane W. Harrell of Utica; one son, Robert Charles Harrell Jr. of Madison; two daughters, Lynn Harrell King and Jonell Harrell, both of Utica; two sisters, Dorris Kindred of Madison and Kay Blocker of Carthage; his stepmother, Grace Harrell of Carthage; four grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Bear Creek Methodist Protestant Church with the Rev. B.F. Gerald officiating. Burial will follow at Bear Creek Cemetery under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home in Utica.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Wednesday until the service at the church.

Pallbearers will be members of the P&C Hunting Club.

Honorary pallbearers will be Harris Carmichael, Lloyd Hawkins, Charles King, Jim Long, Bob Malone, Wendell Harrell, Bert Johnston and Lammar Wallace.

Sybil Burns Josey

TALLULAH Sybil Burns Josey died today, Nov. 9, 2004, at Madison Parish Hospital in Tallulah. She was 84.

Mrs. Josey was born in Shreveport and had lived in Tallulah since 1952. A retired bookkeeper, she was a member of Pleasant Valley Methodist Church in Minden, La.

She is survived by a son, Maurice “Bo” Josey of Tallulah; one sister, Faye McCoy of Phoenix City, Ala.; a grandson, Michael Josey of Monroe; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hasley Cemetery in West Monroe with the Rev. John Rushing officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home of Tallulah.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until noon Wednesday at the funeral home.

Paul W. Kerr

VALLEY PARK Paul W. Kerr died Monday, Nov. 8, 2004, at his home in Valley Park. He was 78.

Mr. Kerr was born in Charleston, Miss., and had been a Valley Park resident for the past 53 years. He was a veteran of the Navy, serving in World War II.

A retired farmer, he was employed at W.J. Runyon Construction Co. for a number of years and also served as a road foreman for District I in Issaquena County. He attended Valley Park Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie J. Kerr; his parents, James and Edith C. Kerr; a sister, Janie Kerr Farmer; two brothers, Gene Kerr and Wesley Kerr; and one grandson, William Paul Kerr.

Survivors include two sons, John Paul Kerr of Cary and Charles Kerr of Valley Park; a daughter, Kathy Allen of Vicksburg; one brother, J.T. Kerr of Tallula; three sisters, Alveritta Cole, Sandra Young and Ruby Flemming, all of Clinton; and five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Valley Park Baptist Church with the Revs. Michael Ensign and Dennis Salley officiating. Burial will follow at Valley Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at Glenwood Funeral Home in Vicksburg and from 10 a.m. Wednesday until the service at the church.

Pallbearers will be Ted Porter, David Wansley, Wynn Johnson, Tim Barnette, Lynn Braxton and Bubba Miller.

Honorary pallbearers will be Wendell Johnson, Max Barnette, Dub Shelby, Dewayne Russell and Ralph Frisbee.

Memorials may be made to Patient’s Choice Hospice, American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
