Steve Charles Leist
JACKSON Steve Charles “Charlie” Leist died Saturday, Oct. 16, 2004, at Central Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. He was 52.
Mr. Leist was born in Memphis and attended school in Clarksdale. He had lived in Vicksburg before moving to Jackson and was of the Methodist faith. He was a respiratory therapist at Central Mississippi Medical Center for many years.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Steve C. Leist Sr.; and a daughter, Michelle Leist.
Survivors include his mother, Margie Bridges Leist of Lyon; a sister, Sandra L. Smith of Lyon; a brother, Ronny Leist of Biloxi; and other relatives and friends.
Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. today at Mark Seepe Funeral Home and Crematory in Jackson.
Edward Pat Ryan Sr.
Edward Pat Ryan Sr. died Saturday, Oct. 16, 2004. He was 78.
A native of Simpson County, Mr. Ryan lived most of his life in Vicksburg. He was the son of the late Edward S. and Laura Williamson Ryan.
He retired from the Vicksburg Fire Department, serving as chief from 1963 until 1973. He later retired as safety director from Vicksburg Chemical Co. He was of the Catholic faith and a member of the VFW.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Michael B. Ryan; two sisters, Grace Roberson and Eddie Ruth Cotham; and a brother, John T. Ryan.
Survivors include his wife, Marian L. Ryan of Vicksburg; a son, Edward Pat Ryan II of Vicksburg; six sisters, Dorothy Jean Allen, Ann Baughman and Aileen Chunn, all of Houston, Texas, and Lucille Johnson, Nell J. Ryan and Gwendolyn R. Hogan, all of Vicksburg; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Fisher Funeral Home with the Rev. P.J. Curley, pastor of St. Michael Catholic Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Mike Luckett, Roger Holdiness, J.C. Baughman, Terry Allen, William Chunn, Jimmy McCaskill and Raymond May.
Honorary pallbearers will be Otto Logue, Johnny Trichell, Sonny Keen, Bobby Raines, Perry Young, Frank Dayton, Niven Morgan, retired and active members of the Vicksburg Fire Department, former employees of Vicksburg Chemical Co., Dr. George Abraham, Dr. Michael Davis and the staff of Renal Care, Vicksburg and Delta.
Willie Henry Winters
Willie Henry Winters died Saturday, Oct. 16, 2004, at River Region Medical Center. He was 75.
Mr. Winters was a veteran of World War II and a member of Travis Chapel Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Winters Sr. and Gertrude Major Winters; his stepfather, Walter Johnson; three brothers, Henry Winters Jr., Eddie Johnson and Volney Winters; two sisters, Johnnie B. Taylor and Lee Ester Winters; and one daughter, Brenda Winters.
Survivors include a son, Michael Collins of Los Angeles; a daughter, Kasandra Williams of Vicksburg; one brother, Clarence Winters of Portland, Ore.; one sister, Walterine Wildee of Vicksburg; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including members of the Johnson, Major, Taylor and Winters families of Vicksburg.
