James Elwood Hancock Sr.
James Elwood “Ramrod” Hancock Sr. died Sunday, May 9, 2004, at his home in Vicksburg. He was 77.
A native of Yazoo County, Mr. Hancock was the son of the late Samuel B. and Nettie Warnock Hancock. He had lived in Vicksburg since 1945. He was a retired logger and owned and operated All-American Carpet Cleaning Co. for 15 years.
He is survived by his wife, Alice Pettway Hancock of Vicksburg; two daughters, Jean Alice Whatley and Janice Mae Wipperling, both of Vicksburg; one son, James Elwood Hancock Jr. of Vicksburg; six brothers, Ray Hancock and Lamar “Bubba” Hancock, both of Bentonia, Sammy Hancock and Jimmy Hancock, both of Gulfport, Lonnie Hancock of Phoenix and Pete Hancock of Memphis; and five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Fisher Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Tammy E. Oliver
Tammy E. Oliver died Sunday, May 9, 2004, at River Region Medical Center. She was 33.
Miss Oliver was a graduate of Vicksburg High School and a member of the House of Peace Church, where she was in the Adult Choir.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard Oliver Sr. and Bobbie Johnson Oliver; a sister, Laverne Oliver; her maternal grandparents, Parnell and Alice Johnson; and her paternal grandfather, Blanchard Oliver.
She is survived by a son, Blanchard Oliver of Vicksburg; a daughter, Qushonoa Oliver of Vicksburg; four brothers, Terry Oliver, Howard Oliver Jr., Darrell Oliver and Allen Oliver, all of Vicksburg; two sisters, Beatrice Oliver Berry and Lisa Oliver, both of Vicksburg; her paternal grandmother, Georgia Oliver of Vicksburg; and aunts, uncles and cousins.
W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
