Mary McCandlish Cooper
Mary McCandlish Cooper died Friday, Aug. 27, 2004. She was 67.
Mrs. Cooper was a graduate of Haddon Heights High School in Haddon Heights, N.J. She taught Sunday school at Bethany Presbyterian Church in Haddon Heights and worked as a stewardess for United Airlines. She retired as an executive secretary from Waterways Experiment Station in Vicksburg.
She is survived by her husband, Stafford S. Cooper of Vicksburg; four sons, Stephan Cooper and Robert Cooper, both of Vicksburg, Thomas Cooper of Forest and James Cooper of Tallulah; two sisters, Margaret McCandlish of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Jean Senesi of Baton Rouge; six grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church, 1501 Cherry St.
Donald James Arnold
PORT GIBSON Donald James “D.J.” Arnold died Sunday, Aug. 29, 2004, at Ochsner’s Hospital in New Orleans. He was 59.
Born in Alexandria, La., Mr. Arnold lived in Vicksburg for a number of years and had lived in Port Gibson since 1990. He was a retired Army veteran and was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Tallulah.
He is survived by his wife, Ruthie Faye Arnold of Port Gibson; one daughter, Donna Jean Disotell of Tallulah; two sons, Benjamin Quince Arnold of Tallulah and Robert Lee Arnold of Transylvania, La.; a stepson, James Kenneth Williams Jr. of Little Rock, Ark.; one sister, Mary Ruth Young of Jena, La.; and four grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Glenwood Funeral Home in Vicksburg. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Barry Robinson, Jerry Little, Billy Lynn, Frank May Jr., David Raymer and Hugh Thomas.
