The Vicksburg Post prints obituaries for residents, former residents and residents’ immediate family members who resided elsewhere when notified by a family member or a funeral home. There is no charge for printing an obituary, but all are edited to meet the newspaper’s requirements.
Tony Gibson
Tony Gibson died Monday, April 26, 2004, as the result of a motor vehicle accident. He was 34.
A native of Hazlehurst, Mr. Gibson lived in Vicksburg most of his life and was a resident of Delta. He was a 1988 graduate of Porters Chapel Academy and was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.
He is survived by his parents, Everett Jr. and Ann Gibson of Vicksburg; a son, Brandon Shane Gibson of Vicksburg; and one sister, Tammy Case of Peachtree City, Ga.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Brumfield officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Thursday until the service at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Arthur Lagg, Bryan Lagg, David Upchurch, Raymond Evans, Marvin Curtis, Greg Gastrell and Glen Busby.
Memorials may be made to Immanuel Baptist Church.
Stanley Norman Roberson
DELHI Stanley Norman Roberson died Tuesday, April 27, 2004, in Delhi. He was 77.
Born in Epps, La., Mr. Roberson was a former maintenance worker for the town of Delhi.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee Gene Roberson and Mary Irene Moore Roberson, and two brothers, Robert Roberson and Marvin Lee Roberson.
He is survived by his wife, Irma Lee Boykin Roberson; one son, Norman Roberson of Leonville, La.; a brother, Bennie Roberson of Delhi; a sister, Barbara Harrell of Delhi; and one grandchild.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Harmony Baptist Church with the Rev. W. H. “Buck” Curry Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Epps Cemetery under the direction of Cox Funeral Home of Delhi.
Eddie E. TurnerEDWARDS Eddie E. Turner died Saturday, April 24, 2004, at Central Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. He was 51.
Mr. Turner was a resident of Edwards.
Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
Robert Jean WilliamsGRETNA, La. Robert Jean Williams died today, April 28, 2004, at River Region Medical Center. He was 60.
A resident of Gretna, La., Mr. Williams was a homemaker and a member of Mount Zion M.B. Church in Gretna.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Leo Martin and Idlean Spencer Martin; three brothers, J.D. Martin, Aubrey “Bubba” Martin and Otis Martin; and a sister, Marie Anderson.
Survivors include a son, Tyrone Williams of Gretna; a daughter, Cynthia D.W. Darensburg of Gretna; a brother, L.C. Martin of Jackson; five sisters, Honaray Cook and Pharphine Williams, both of New Orleans, Evelyn Kelly of Springfield, Mass., and Unzell Wilkerson and Bertha Allen, both of Vicksburg; two grandchildren, Jarvis Darensburg Jr. and Xavier Maurice Darensburg, both of Gretna; and nieces and nephews.
