Shirley Ann Sherard Estraca
Shirley Ann Estraca died Thursday, Sept. 30, 2004, at her home in LaPlace, La. She was 62.
Mrs. Estraca was born in Vicksburg to the late Harry and Louise McCraine Sherard III.
She attended Culkin High School.
She is survived by her husband, J.R. Estraca of LaPlace; three sons, Warren Nevels Jr. and Randy Nevels, both of Vicksburg, and Ronnie Nevels of Joshua, Texas; four daughters, Lisa Nevels, Teresa Nevels and Tammy Jilbert, all of Vicksburg, and Jenni Santangelo of LaPlace; four stepdaughters, Tanya Growcock, Kelly Owens, Stephanie Conn and Amanda Allen, all of Maryville, Mo.; one brother, Garvin Sherard of Vicksburg; two sisters, Linda Shields of Downsville, La., and Sandra Hynum of Vicksburg; and 24 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Riles Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Juan Nevels Jr., Randy Nevels, Ronnie Nevels, Timmy Hynum, Chance Jilbert and Johnny McMillin.
Irma Lee Gossett
VIDALIA, La. Irma Lee Gossett died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2004, at Natchez Regional Medical Center. She was 71.
A resident of Vidalia, Mrs. Gossett was a homemaker and a member of Riverside Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Homer Gossett Sr. and Alvin Russell; her parents, Beatrice and Leo Leake; and a brother, Pete Leake.
Survivors include eight daughters, Shirley Martin of Ridgecrest, La., Bobbie Hogue of Vicksburg, Jane Blaylock of Winnsboro, La., Laurene Peoples of Bay St. Louis, Gloria Gossett of Pineville, La., Kay Whitehead of Natchez, and Abbigail Baroni and Ellie Lemaster, both of Vidalia; a son, Burt Gossett of Vidalia; two sisters, Leona Moore of Houston, Texas, and Earnestine Foles of Angleton, Texas; a brother, Carlos Leake of Winnsboro; 22 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Services were at 10 a.m. today at Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday, La., with Glen Harrigill officiating. Burial followed at Providence Memorial Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Dale Peoples, Scott Blaylock, Cory Martin, Daniel Martin, Kenny Peoples, Derek Welch, Ronald Peoples and Donald Peoples.
Honorary pallbearer was Michael Blaylock.
Essie Lula King
HAZLEHURST Essie Lula King died Monday, Sept. 27, 2004, at Pinecrest Nursing Home in Hazlehurst. She was 94.
A housewife, Mrs. King was a member of Heroines and Bell Hill United Methodist Church in Union Church, where she served as a mother.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert King; her father, Pearlie King; her mother, Moriah Gibson; three brothers, Thomas King, Willie King and Alphonso King; three sisters, Isadora Winston, Maryella Taylor and Bernice McCure; three sons, Alford King, Herbert King Jr. and Ellis King; and a daughter, Annie Mae Devaul.
Survivors include two sons, Elbert Lee King of Madison, Wis., and William King of Fayette; three daughters, Annie Best King of Shreveport, La., and Eretha Jones and Velma King, both of Chicago; 30 grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bell Hill United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jimmy McClinton officiating. Burial will follow at Hickory Block Cemetery under the direction of Rollins Funeral Home in Fayette.
Visitation will be from 2 until 6 tonight at the funeral home.
Angielene Wright
ROLLING FORK Angielene Wright died Saturday, Sept. 25, 2004, at her home in St. Louis. She was 92.
Mrs. Wright was a former resident of Rolling Fork.
She is survived by a sister, Alice Moffett of Rolling Fork; a brother; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Shiloh M.B. Church in Rolling Fork with Pastor J.B. Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Green Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Walker Funeral Home in Rolling Fork.
