Bertie Mae Daffin
Bertie Mae Daffin died Friday, Jan. 16, 2004, at Heritage House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Vicksburg. She was 88.
Mrs. Daffin was a lifelong resident of Jackson County. She was a graduate of Moss Point High School and attended Perkinston Junior College.
For the past seven years, Mrs. Daffin lived in Vicksburg and was a member of Crawford Street United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Jenkins Carter and Olive E. Carter; her husband, Alton L. Daffin; and two brothers, Floyd Carter and Leslie Carter.
Mrs. Daffin is survived by her son, Alton L. Daffin of League City, Texas; her daughter, Darlene Lominick of Vicksburg; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Holder-Well Funeral Home in Moss Point. Burial will follow in Carter Cemetery in Jackson County.
Visitation will be from 4 until 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Robin Parker, George Scholl, Mac Simmons, Joe Brown, Jimmy Wheat, David Ardoin, Johnny Grafe and Jimmy Grafe.
Mary Louise Sanders
OAK GROVE Mary Louise Sanders died Friday, Jan. 16, 2004, at her home in Oak Grove. She was 84.
Mrs. Sanders was born in Mendenhall and lived in West Carroll and East Carroll parishes all of her life.
Mrs. Sanders was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Guy Sanders; her parents, Henry Luther Jones and Agnes Jones; five brothers, Loren Jones, Ozell Jones, Burman Jones, Verell Jones and Rayburn Jones; and her sister, Carol Jones Cook.
Mrs. Sanders is survived by four sons, Larry Edward Boyte of Monroe, La., Garry Wayland Sanders of Longview, Texas, and John Eddy Sanders and Narvell Wayne Boyte, both of Oak Grove; five daughters, Alice Faye Aarons of Oak Grove, Gloria Barnett Blackwell of Chatham, La., Betty Jane Fauthertree of West Monroe, La., Ethel Gayle McGlothlin of Bay City, Texas, and Attie Mae Mayne of Richardson, Texas; 24 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren; and others, including Caroll White of Forest, La., and Dianne Hutson of Tallulah.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Cox Funeral Home in Oak Grove with the Rev. Leslie Yates and Elder Joe Asball officiating. Burial will follow at Providence Memorial Cemetery in Lake Providence.
Visitation will be all day today until 9 p.m, and Monday morning until the service.
