James Dorsey
ROLLING FORK Services for James “Jessie” Dorsey will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Olive M.B. Church in Egremont with the Rev. Willie James Dorsey officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Saturday until the service at the church.
Mr. Dorsey died Friday, July 30, 2004, at Shady Lake Nursing Home in Lake Providence. He was 72.
A resident of Rolling Fork, Mr. Dorsey was a retired farmer and a member of Mount Olive M.B. Church.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Dorsey; his parents, Eugene Dorsey and Anna McReynolds Dorsey Howard; a brother, Eugene Dorsey; and three sisters, Hattie Griffin, Alma Dorsey and Lacey Benjamin.
Survivors include his wife, Emma Walls Dorsey of Rolling Fork; four sons, the Rev. Willie J. Dorsey of Rolling Fork, Billy Dorsey and the Rev. Michael Dorsey, both of Vicksburg, and the Rev. Carl Dorsey of Hollandale; three daughters, Audrey Dorsey Davis of Vicksburg, Jeanette Dorsey of Rolling Fork and LaTonya Dorsey Richardson of Brandon; two brothers, Henry Dorsey of Cary and Paul Dorsey of Albuquerque N.M.; a sister, Lorraine Howard of Phoenix, Ariz.; 12 grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
Johnny Earl
TALLULAH Services for Johnny “Charcoal” Earl will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Beckwith Funeral Home in Tallulah. Visitation will be from 6 until 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Mr. Earl died Saturday, July 31, 2004, at his home in Tallulah. He was 65.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eloise Earl William and Frank Earl Sr.; three brothers, Frank Earl Jr., Lucious Earl and Herman Earl; and two sisters, Ernestine Earl and Vivian Earl Carter.
Survivors include his wife, Willie Dean Earl of Tallulah; two sons, Johnny Earl Jr. of Eugene, Ore., and John Fitzgerald Wince of Vicksburg; three daughters, Gail Carr Martin of Vicksburg and Anita Earl and Keshise Earl, both of Las Vegas; three sisters, Addie Lee Earl Carter of Vicksburg, Pinkie Earl of New Orleans and Edna Earl Fields of Houston, Texas; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
Corine Evans
Services for Corine Evans will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Triumph Church with Frank Allen officiating. Burial will follow at Green Chapel Cemetery in Rolling Fork under the direction of W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 6 until 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Miss Evans died Friday, July 30, 2004, at Shady Lawn Nursing Home. She was 53.
Born in Rolling Fork, she was retired from the Corps of Engineers and was a former Wal-Mart greeter. She was a missionary and a former member of the Adult Choir at Wayside Apostolic Church of Deliverance.
She was preceded in death by her father, Dan Evans Sr.; a sister, Delores Hoggatt; a brother, Henry Evans; her maternal grandparents, Sam and Amanda Hobbs; and her paternal grandparents, Caleb and Charlotte Evans.
Survivors include a daughter, Deidra C. Evans of Vicksburg; her mother, Corine Evans of Vicksburg; seven brothers, Dan Evans Jr. of Riverside, Calif., James Evans, Ike Evans, Donnal Ray Evans and Leonard McGee, all of Chicago, Alvin Evans of Greenville and Reginal Evans of Laurel; six sisters, Yvonne J. Holmes of Norwood, Mo., Doretha Evans of Inglewood, Calif., Amanda Diggs of Rolling Fork, Rebecca Johnson and Evelyn Dent, both of Vicksburg, and Commie Evans of Chicago; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; and other relatives and friends.
Larry Donell Keys Sr.Richard H. LeTourneauLONGVIEW, Texas Richard H. LeTourneau died Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2004, at his home in Longview, Texas. He was 79.
Born in Stockton, Calif., Mr. LeTourneau was the son of R.G. and Evelyn LeTourneau. He was a former president of LeTourneau University in Longview.
In 1966 he succeeded his father as president and chief executive officer of R.G. LeTourneau Inc. in Vicksburg and served as senior vice president of Marathon-LeTourneau for two years after the sale of the company to Marathon Manufacturing.
Survivors include his wife, Louise LeTourneau of Longview; two sons, Gil LeTourneau and Caleb LeTourneau; two daughters, Linda LeTourneau and Leila LeTourneau; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Rader Funeral Home of Longview has charge of arrangements.
Rose Wilma Bliss SmithBAY CITY, Texas Rose Wilma Bliss Smith died Saturday, July 31, 2004, in Bay City, Texas. She was 81.
Born in Vicksburg, Mrs. Smith had lived in Port Gibson before moving to Bay City four years ago.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Thomas Smith; her parents, Samuel and Rosa Lee Standard Bliss; a sister, Minnie Bliss Stanford; and five brothers, Phillip Bliss, Ernest Bliss, Buddy Bliss, Ural Bliss and Bryan Bliss.
Survivors include three sons, Robert Wayne Smith of Bay City; Arthur Richard Little of Canada and Ivan Lee Sanford of Warwick, N.Y.; two sisters, Fannie Lois Rachal and Camille Amanda Morse, both of Vicksburg; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at New Life Church in Vicksburg with Randy Berge officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of American Memorial Services of Victoria, Texas.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Friday until the service at the church.
