Rosie Baskin

ANGUILLA Rosie Baskin died Friday, Oct. 15, 2004, at Sharkey-Issaquena Hospital in Rolling Fork. She was 75.

Mrs. Baskin was a resident of Anguilla.

She is survived by three brothers, Clem Cooper of Rolling Fork, Leon Cooper Sr. of Anguilla and Jessie Cooper of Vicksburg; and one sister, Mattee Cooper of Anguilla.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Christian Light M.B. Church in Anguilla with R.C. Addison officiating. Burial will follow at Cynthia Diana Cemetery in Anguilla.

Visitation will be from 6 until 7 tonight at Mitchell L. Walker Funeral Home in Rolling Fork.

Twiggs A. Bishop

TALLULAH Twiggs A. Bishop died Thursday, Oct. 21, 2004, at Olive Branch Senior Care Center. He was 87.

Born in Ringgold, La., Mr. Bishop had lived in Tallulah since 1936. He retired as bulk plant manager for Yerger Oil Co. after 53 years and was a member of First Baptist Church of Tallulah.

He is survived by his wife, Verna Mae Goss Bishop of Tallulah; two sons, Malcolm R. Bishop and Thomas W. Bishop, both of Tallulah; a brother, Luther Bishop of Tallulah; two sisters, Nettie Lou Kyte of Tyler, Texas, and Alsa Cheatwood of Crowville, La.; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church of Tallulah with the Rev. John Rushing officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Johnny Goss, John Neill, Gary Arneson, Bobby Arneson, Henry Bishop and Allen Bishop.

Annie Lee Davis

ANGUILLA Annie Lee Davis died Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2004, at her home in Anguilla. She was 70.

Mrs. Davis is survived by six sons, Jimmy B. Davis Jr., Rickey L. Davis and Percy L. Davis, all of Anguilla, Harry L. Smith of Huntsville, Ala., and James D. Davis and Morris E. Davis, both of Dallas, Texas; two daughters, Diane Davis and Mary C. Davis, both of Anguilla; a brother, Charles Smith of Okmulgee, Okla.; three sisters, Mary W. Boss of Indianapolis, Irene Smith of Memphis and Louise Warner of Chicago; and 34 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Christian Light M.B. Church in Anguilla with Johnnie Mackin officiating. Burial will follow at Cynthia Diana Cemetery in Anguilla.

Visitation will be from 4 until 5 tonight at Mitchell L. Walker Funeral Home in Rolling Fork.

Jessie Mae Haining

Services for Jessie Mae Haining will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Fisher Funeral Home with Dr. John G. McCall officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the funeral home.

Mrs. Haining died Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2004. She was 96.

Mrs. Haining was born in Redwood to the late James and Hattie Harris Whatley. She was a former employee of the Warren County Chancery Clerk’s Office and had worked for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. She was a former Sunday school teacher at Crawford Street United Methodist Church, where she was a Ladies’ Mission Group leader for a number of years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, E.W. Haining; and a son, Edgar Haining.

Survivors include two daughters, Elizabeth Barfield of Vicksburg and Gloria Whittington of Nesbit; one son, Richard Haining of Atlanta; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and other relatives, including Jan and Harold Whatley and Tillman Whatley.

Pallbearers will be Dudley Maynord, Gerry White, Gerry D. White, Hay Murrie, Jim Murrie, Bill Barfield and Brian Barfield.

Honorary pallbearers will be Harold Whatley, Dr. Daniel Edney, Tillman Whatley, Mary Ann Jackson and Steve Maynord.

Memorials may be made to Crawford Street United Methodist Church, 900 Crawford St., Vicksburg, MS 39180.

Richard Charles Hunt

ROXIE Richard Charles Hunt died Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2004, in Roxie. He was 56.

Born in Franklin County to Richard Hunt Jr. and Marie Buckles, Mr. Hunt lived in Roxie. He was a logger and a member of Roxie First Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Cathleen Hunt; a son, Detrick McGee; and a stepson, Vincent Earl Jenkins.

Survivors include two sons, Adrian Charles Hunt of Roxie and Rayfus McGee of Bude; a daughter, Carrie Marie Hunt of Roxie; three stepsons, Kenneth Jenkins of Natchez, Reginald Jefferson of New Orleans and Cedron Hopson of Kansas City, Kansas; six brothers, Ivory Hunt, Robert Hunt and Clarence Norman, all of Atlanta, Milton Morgan of Miami, Fla., Richard James Norman of Whitesand, N.M., and Danny Hunt of Port Gibson; six sisters, Troy Davis of Jackson, Lillian Watkins and Darlene Cameron, both of Kenner, La., Arnetta Picket and Faye Morgan, both of Roxie, and Brenda Ann Norman of Atlanta; nine grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Roxie First Baptist Church with the Rev. Carl Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at the Hunt Family Cemetery under the direction of Rollins Funeral Home of Fayette.

Visitation will be from noon until 6 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Friends of the family will serve as pallbearers.

Alice Mae Dotson Tolliver

PORT GIBSON Alice Mae Dotson Tolliver died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2004, at Hospice Ministries in Madison. She was 57.

A resident of Port Gibson, Mrs. Tolliver was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her father, Louis Dotson.

Survivors include a daughter, Essie Camphor of Port Gibson; her mother, Carrie Cole of Port Gibson; and other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at China Grove Baptist Church in Port Gibson with the Rev. Leon Nelson officiating. Burial will follow at McCaa Cemetery in Russum under the direction of Rollins Funeral Home of Port Gibson.

Visitation will be from 1 until 7 tonight at the funeral home.

Friends of the family will serve as pallbearers.

Willie Henry Winters

Services for Willie Henry Winters will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Travis Chapel Church. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Williams Funeral Service.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the funeral home.

Mr. Winters died Saturday, Oct. 16, 2004, at River Region Medical Center. He was 75.

He was a veteran of World War II and a member of Travis Chapel Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Winters Sr. and Gertrude Major Winters; his stepfather, Walter Johnson; three brothers, Henry Winters Jr., Eddie Johnson and Volney Winters; two sisters, Johnnie B. Taylor and Lee Ester Winters; and one daughter, Brenda Winters.

Survivors include a son, Michael Collins of Los Angeles; a daughter, Kasandra Williams of Vicksburg; one brother, Clarence Winters of Portland, Ore.; one sister, Walterine Wildee of Vicksburg; two grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including members of the Johnson, Major, Taylor and Winters families of Vicksburg.
