Cornelious N. Davis
LORMAN Cornelious N. Davis died Monday, Dec. 6, 2004, at River Region Medical Center. He was 65.
Mr. Davis was a resident of Lorman.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Davis; a daughter, Terry Davis; and a sister, Geraldine Davis.
Survivors include his wife, Retha Davis of Lorman; his mother, Alice Reed-Davis of Milwaukee, Wis.; three sons, Cornelious Davis Jr. of Port Gibson, Lionel Wilson of Madison and Sidney Davis Sr. of Natchez; three daughters, Linda Davis, Sherry Coleman and Monica Davis, all of Lorman; four brothers, Michael Davis of Olympia Fields, Ill., and Charles Davis, John Davis and Robert Lee Davis Jr., all of Milwaukee; three sisters, Mary Davis, Al’lean Davis and Ernestine Woods, all of Milwaukee; nine grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Morningstar M.B. Church in Lorman with the Rev. Larry Clark officiating. Burial will follow at McCay Cemetery in Russum under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home of Port Gibson.
Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home and from 1 p.m. Sunday until the service at the church.
Beatrice M. Neill
TALLULAH Beatrice M. Neill died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2004, at Olive Branch Senior Care Center in Tallulah. She was 99.
Born in Yokena, Mrs. Neill had lived in Tallulah for more than 75 years. She was a homemaker and a member of Trinity Episcopal Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Elmer Neill Sr.; and a son, James Elmer Neill Jr.
Survivors include three grandchildren, Dr. James Elmer Neill of San Angelo, Texas, and John Carter Neill of Vicksburg and Patricia Neill Albrecht of Southlake, Texas; five great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and other relatives, including Dorothy S. Neill of Tallulah.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Episcopal Church with the Rev. Bill Echols officiating. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the fellowship hall of the church. Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
Fred Owens Fred Owens died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2004, at River Region Medical Center. He was 89.
Mr. Owens was a retired logger. He had owned and operated Owens Grocery. He was a member of Oak Chapel M.B. Church in Bovina, where he was a deacon and Sunday school superintendent.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ora Cook Owens; his parents, Tom Sr. and Sarah Miles Owens; two brothers, Tom Owens Jr. and T.C. Banks; and two sisters, Arebia Thompson and Lucille Lowry.
He is survived by a son, Freddie L. Owens of Morton.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Oak Chapel M.B. Church with the Rev. Dellie Robinson officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Chapel Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 until 7 p.m. Saturday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home.
Francis E. Smith
CHICAGO Francis E. Smith, formerly of Vicksburg, died Sunday, Dec. 5, 2004, in Chicago. He was 64.
Mr. Smith was a retired carpenter and a resident of Chicago.
He was preceded by his parents, Frank Sr. and Ruth A. Smith; two brothers, Mark Smith and Nathan Smith Sr.; and a sister, Bonnie S. Haymond.
Survivors include five brothers, Rufus “Duff” Smith of Vicksburg, Frank Smith Jr. of Dallas, Texas, Willie H. Smith of San Diego, Calif., Harvey L. Smith of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Dan E. Smith of Philadelphia, Pa.; five sisters, Alice M. Hill and Barbara J. Pierce, both of Vicksburg, and Emma R. Bernard, Mary R. Wilmore and Anna M. Jones, all of Chicago; and other relatives.
Colonial Funeral Home of Chicago has charge of arrangements.
Eugene Washington
ROLLING FORK Eugene “Man” Washington died Saturday, Dec. 4, 2004, at River Region Medical Center. He was 61.
Mr. Washington was a resident of Rolling Fork.
He is survived by his mother, Catherine Washington of Rolling Fork; five brothers, Malichi Washington, John Henry Washington, James Washington, Larry Washington and Isiah Washington, all of Rolling Fork; and two sisters, Geraldine McGee and Katie Coleman, both of Rolling Fork.
Services will be at noon Saturday at Egremont Pleasant Green Baptist Church in Rolling Fork with J.H. Whitehead officiating. Burial will follow at Elwood Cemetery under the direction of Walker Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 6 until 7 tonight at the funeral home.
Arthur L. Wright
UTICA Services for Arthur L. Wright will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home with the Rev. Deloris Hicks officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Wright died Thursday, Dec. 2, 2004, at his home in Utica. He was 67.
He was a retired truck driver.
Mr. Wright was preceded in death by his mother, Pearl Wright, and a brother, Stanley Wright.
He is survived by his father, Garfield Wright Sr. of Vicksburg; two brothers, Garfield Wright Jr. of Vicksburg and James Wright of Dallas; and three sisters, Deloris Hicks of Aurora, Ill., Margaret Singleton of Oak Park, Ill., and Patricia Wright.
