Vicksburg fire Pvt. Eric Johnson works his way down the side of the Vicksburg Fire Department’s training tower Thursday morning during a rope rescue exercise while training officer Charles Atkins watches the progress. Johnson had been up as high as three stories on the training tower that is next to Station No. 9 on North Washington Street in Kings. The exercise helps the firefighters prepare to retrieve victims from high-rise buildings and with proficiency on the ropes.(Brian Loden The Vicksburg Post)
