Warren Central wins division championship over Vicksburg

[4/14/04]Warren Central captured the Division 6-5A tennis championship Tuesday with a 3-2 win over archrival Vicksburg.

Neither Forest Hill nor Natchez received any points.

Warren Central used a strong doubles game the Vikings won the girls, boys and mixed doubles titles to stave off a pair of wins by Vicksburg High singles players.

Warren Central’s boys doubles team of Steven Faulks and Keith Klaus defeated Vicksburg’s Coleman Morrison and Chris Brown, 6-2, 3-6, 7-5, to win a close match.

The WC girls doubles team of Katie Malik and Laura Beth Shelton defeated Natchez in their championship match, 6-0, 6-1.

The mixed doubles team of Andrew Hendrix and Kali Shelton defeated Vicksburg’s Eric Holland and Catherine Figueroa,

Vicksburg won both singles titles with Jordan Henry cruising to a 6-0, 6-3 decision over Forest Hill’s Brandon Nelson. Angelique Moffett defeated Caitlyn Shelton 2-6, 7-6, 6-3 to capture the girls’ singles title.
