Oak Grove unloads on prom-ready VHS

[3/21/04]A prom-day game has always gotten the best of the Vicksburg Gators.

This year was no exception.

Oak Grove battered four Vicksburg (8-4) pitchers for 16 runs on 14 hits in a 16-1 decision Saturday afternoon in Oak Grove.

The game, originially scheduled for 3 p.m., was rescheduled for noon to accomodate the Vicksburg High prom Saturday night.

Jordan Henry had the Gators’ only two hits both singles.

Oak Grove trailed 1-0 after the first inning, but the Warriors scored seven in the second, two in the third and seven in the fourth to end the game by way of a 15-run mercy rule.

Adam Logue pitched two innings and took the loss.

Grant Hogue led Oak Grove with three hits and two RBIs.

The Gators begin an eight-game homestand Tuesday night against archrival Warren Central.
