Cecil Perkins
Cecil Perkins died Monday, April 12, 2004, at Vicksburg Convalescent Center. He was 77.
Mr. Perkins was a resident of Vicksburg.
He was preceded in death by a son, Vincent Perkins; a daughter, Lenora Perkins; and a sister, Mary Lou Burnett.
Survivors include three sons, Richard Perkins of Matteson, Ill., Vernard Perkins of Chicago and Parrie Perkins of Vicksburg; a sister, Lovie Wright of New York; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends, including Johnny and Doris Davis of Vicksburg.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 1 until 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Florence Thomas
Florence Thomas died Wednesday, April 14, 2004, at Lutheran Convalescent Home in Webster Grove, Mo. She was 94.
A longtime resident of Vicksburg, Mrs. Thomas was a homemaker and member of Zion Travelers M.B. Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie Thomas; two daughters, Rosie Thomas and Clementine McFarland; and her siblings.
She is survived by four sons, Roosevelt Thomas and Jessie Thomas, both of Chicago, Freddie Thomas of Vicksburg and Tom Thomas of Minneapolis, Minn.; five daughters, Mildred Edwards and Georgia Malone, both of St. Louis, Mo., Jessie Ferguson of Newman, Ga., Florence Allen of Memphis and Ophelia Caldwell of Vicksburg; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Robbins Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
James Wesley Willis
BENTONIA James Wesley Willis died Tuesday, April 13, 2004, at his home. He was 75.
A resident of Bentonia, Mr. Willis was a member of Bentonia United Methodist Church, the Bentonia Volunteer Fire Department and the Bentonia Lions Club. He retired as a printer for Howell Printing Co. after more than 30 years of service.
Survivors include his wife, Beverly Willis of Bentonia; a daughter, Monica Ruth Willis of Spencer, N.C.; two sons, David Earl Willis of Vicksburg and Robert Dale Willis of Richland; two sisters, Dorothy Roy of Natchez and Ruth Herren of Utica; two brothers, Ed Willis of Vicksburg and Willie Willis of Utica; three granchildren; and a great-grandson.
Services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Stricklin-King Funeral Home in Yazoo City with the Rev. Bert Gary officiating. Burial followed at Dover Cemetery in Bentonia.
