[11/1/04]A Vicksburg man was killed Sunday in an early-morning wreck near Eagle Lake, authorities said.
Marion Britt Abbott, 25, 100 St. Charles Place, Delta, died after being thrown from the vehicle he was driving after it flipped off Mississippi 465.
“He was headed from Eagle Lake to Vicksburg,” said Warren County Undersheriff Jeff Riggs. “The vehicle flipped several times.”
Warren County Coroner John Thomason said an autopsy Sunday at Mississippi Mortuary Services in Pearl showed Abbott died from internal injuries.
The wreck was reported to 911 at about 1 a.m., and when authorities arrived they found the vehicle unoccupied. Abbott was not found until about 8 a.m.
The wreck was about a half-mile from the Eagle Lake Gin.
Mr. Abbott was the tenth person to die in a wreck this year in Warren County.
Mr. Abbott was born and reared in Vicksburg, but moved to Marshall, Texas in the ninth grade, where he graduated from high school.
He attended Tyler Junior College, before moving back to Vicksburg about a year ago, said his mother, Camelia Abbott.
He was a construction worker for S and S Construction who had been working at out-of-town job sites, she said.
“He loved his work,” Abbott said. “He was just an outgoing, loving person.”
He was preceded in death by a sister, Jeni Kowaluk Thames.
In addition to his mother, Mr. Abbott is survived by his father and stepmother, Gene and Patsy Abbott; two sisters, Dana Grant of Vicksburg and Kathy Abbott of Pearl; a brother, Charles Guinn of Shreveport, La., two stepsisters, Rebecca Miller of Thornton, Pa., and Rhonda Davis of Munford, Tenn.; and a stepbrother, Brian Miller of Brandon.
Riles Funeral Home was handling arrangements.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol is investigating the wreck.
