Willena Griffin Buck

Services for Willena Griffin Buck will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Travelers Rest Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon until 7 p.m. Tuesday at Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home.

Mrs. Buck died Wednesday, March 31, 2004, at Shady Lawn Nursing Home. She was 83.

Mrs. Buck was a retired homemaker and a member of Travelers Rest M.B. Church, where she served on the Women’s Mission.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam Griffin and Margaritt Fuller, and her stepfather, Eugene Fuller Sr.

Survivors include a son, Willie James Buck of Las Vegas; four daughters, Sarah Brown and Carolyn Buck, both of New Orleans, and Brenda Buck and Diane Buck Reynolds, both of Vicksburg; her stepmother, Elnora Fuller of Vicksburg; two sisters, Florine Conway of Las Vegas and Annie Mae Griffin of San Jose, Calif.; six brothers, Eugene Fuller Jr. and Sam Griffin, both of Vicksburg, Leon Fuller of Las Vegas, Isaiah Fuller of Detroit, Johnny Lee Griffin of Atlanta and Amos Griffin of Greensburg, N.C.; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives, including members of the Wilson, Washington, Freeman and Griffin families.

Theresa Lynn Counts

BENTONIA Theresa Lynn Counts died Saturday, April 3, 2004, at University Medical Center in Jackson. She was 37.

A resident of Bentonia, Mrs. Counts was a manager in the shipping and receiving department at Myanatic Yates Co. She was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her father, William Allen Twiner.

Survivors include her husband, Craig Counts of Bentonia; two daughters, Dawn Worthy and Cassey Worthy, both of Bentonia; a son, Billy Worthy of Bentonia; her mother, Carolyn Eakes of Bentonia; two sisters, Sheila Booker and Linda Barber, both of Bentonia; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Stricklin-King Funeral Home in Yazoo City with the Rev. Paul Stupka officiating. Burial will follow at Twiner Family Cemetery in Yazoo County.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Michael Saxton, Colby Booker, Ken Bounds, Shane Saxton, William Twiner and Aubrey Walker.

Lillie Margaret McHann

Memorial services for Lillie Margaret McHann will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity Baptist Church with the Rev. Frank Lescallette officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction Fisher Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the service Tuesday at the church.

Mrs. McHann died Friday, March 19, 2004, at River Region Medical Center. She was 85.

A native and lifelong resident of Vicksburg, she was the daughter of the late John Henry and Carrie Dose Hopkins. She was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Sonia McNemar; a son, David McHann; three brothers, Buddy Hopkins, Arthur Hopkins and Richard Hopkins; and three sisters, Gladys Jones, Pearl Gessler and Josie Hopkins.

Survivors include a daughter, Jeanne Mahoney of Reston, Va.; a son, Rodney E. McHann of Vicksburg; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Grady Lee Myers

OAK GROVE Grady Lee Myers died Saturday, April 3, 2004, at North Monroe Hospital. He was 86.

A Brandon native, Mr. Myers was retired from the Navy, having served on a submarine in World War II. He returned to Oak Grove and operated a taxi service for a number of years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lula Ellie and David Norman Myers; three brothers, Luther Myers, Hardy Myers and Joe Kersh; and five sisters, Corene Wynn, Myrtis Walters, Louise Putman, Merl Moreau and Bertha Bowman.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth Myers of Oak Grove; two stepsons, Robert Zagar and Steve Zagar, both of Oak Grove; one stepdaughter, Susie Buswell of Coushatta, La.; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and other relatives.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Cox Funeral Home in Oak Grove with the Revs. Jeff Sikes and Mike Howard officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be James Myers, Jay Myers, David Myers, David Wynn, Ed Putman and Don Myers.

Honorary pallbearers will be Sidney Barnett, C.L. Pippens, Thurmon Pippens, Bill Russell and John Wesley Smith.
