Ryan Scott Berndt

OAK GROVE Ryan Scott Berndt died Friday, April 23, 2004, at his home in Oak Grove. He was 24.

Mr. Berndt was born in Lake Providence, La.

He is survived by his father, Myron Scott Berndt of Oak Grove; his mother, Eileen Margaret Banka of Lake City, S.C.; one brother, Cory Allen Berndt of Espanola, N.M.; two sisters, Shawna Lynn Berndt of Chico, Calif., and Rebecca Driggers of Ft. Sumpter, S.C.; two grandfathers, Myron Arvid Berndt of Lake Providence and Eddie Ratcliff of Oak Grove; one grandmother, Virginia Ratcliff of Oak Grove; and other relatives.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Beulah Baptist Church in Oak Grove with the Rev. Kenny Herring, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Beulah Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Brandon Smith, Eric Curtis, Allen Byargeon, Josh Cook, Brooks Marino and Terry Glass.

Honorary pallbearers will be Nick White, Luke Bullock, Brian Clark, Chris Patterson and Andy Key.

Bertha Mae Draper

Services for Bertha Mae Draper will be at 2 p.m. today at Belmont M.B. Church with the Rev. Phillip Burks officiating.

Burial will follow at Belmont Cemetery under the direction of W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. today until the service at the church.

Mrs. Draper died Wednesday, April 21, 2004, at River Region Medical Center. She was 69.

She was a retired beautician and a member of Belmont M.B. Church in Utica, where she was an adult choir member, musician and Bible study treasurer.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas W. Draper; and her father, Robert Middleton.

She is survived by her mother, Elizabeth Davenport Middleton of Vicksburg; four sons, Eddie Charles Hunt Sr., James Benjamin Hunt and Roosevelt Hunt, all of Utica, and Christopher Draper of Tallulah; two stepsons, Thomas Draper Jr. of Vicksburg and Carnell Ellis of Compton, Ga.; two stepdaughters, Nita Granberry of El Paso, Texas, and Gwendolyn Yates of Vicksburg; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and other relatives, including Odell F. Allen of Vicksburg.

Odie Lee Janes

OAK GROVE Odie Lee Janes died Friday, April 23, 2004, at West Carroll Care Center in Oak Grove. She was 87.

Mrs. Janes was born in Darnell, La.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnie Janes, and five brothers.

She is survived by two sons, John Robert Janes of Oak Grove and Norman Janes of Lake Charles; one daughter, Sharon Janes of Oak Grove; two grandsons, Tony Janes of Bastrop, La., and Jeff Janes of Baton Rouge; one granddaughter, Kim Morgan of Lake Charles; one brother, Fred Boyte of Milton Fla.; and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Macedonia Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Howard, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.

Visitation will be at Cox Funeral Home until 9 p.m. today and until noon Monday.

Pallbearers are Jeff Janes, Tony Janes, Dan Morgan, Mark Hill, Richard Costello, Edward Boyte, Darren Bruce and Shane Maxwell.

Minnie Hoye Johnson

Minnie Hoye Johnson died Tuesday, April 20, 2004, at her home. She was 87.

Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her husband, Abe Johnson.

She is survived by one son, Alvin Johnson of Vicksburg; one nephew, Walter Crums, and two nieces, Bertha James and Evelyn Burks, all of Vicksburg.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Bright Morning Star M.B. Chapel. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
