Viva Worrell Bennett
CRYSTAL SPRINGS Viva Worrell Bennett died Sunday, Jan. 4, 2004, at Brandon Nursing Home. She was 96.
Mrs. Bennett was born in Hinds County and had been a resident of Crystal Springs since 1939. She was a member of the Crystal Springs Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Thomas Bennett.
Survivors include four nephews, Terry Worrell of Bolton, Lawrence McNair Worrell of Pearl, Brook Worrell of Utica and David Exum Worrell of Crawford, Ga.; and five nieces, Sue Ellen McCool of Vicksburg, Melanie Worrell of Hazlehurst, Nancy Belnap of Crystal Springs, Mary Katherine Worrell of Atlanta and Jackie Ely of Metairie, La.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Lebanon Cemetery in Hinds County with the Rev. Doug Vincent officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Larry Worrell, David Worrell, William Worrell, Brook Worrell, Mac Worrell, Charles Belnap and John David Belnap.
John D. Frazier
MOSS POINT John D. Frazier died Saturday, Jan. 3, 2004, in Pascagoula. He was 80.
Born in Sturgis, Miss., Mr. Frazier was a resident of Moss Point. He was the retired owner of Frazier Insurance and Realty of Pascagoula. He was of the Methodist faith.
He is survived by his wife, Helen L. Frazier of Moss Point; a daughter, Ann Wilcox of Jackson; a son, John D. Frazier of Vicksburg; one sister, Francis Boeninger of Chattanooga, Tenn.; and four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Jackson County Memorial Park in Pascagoula with the Rev. Fred Britton officiating. Burial will follow in the new mausoleum under the direction of Holder-Wells Funeral Home of Moss Point.
Memorials may be made to the Blair E. Batson Hospital for Children at University of Mississippi Medical Center, c/o Public Affairs, 2500 N. State St., Jackson, MS 39216.
David Turello
David Turello died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2004, at his home. He was 78.
Mr. Turello was born to Italian immigrants in Brooklyn, N.Y. He was a veteran of World War II. After graduating from Syracuse University’s College of Forestry as a landscape architect, he worked as a park planner for the National Park Service. He won a number of awards and contributed design plans for national parks at the Grand Canyon, Independence Hall, Yellowstone, Fort Donelson and others.
He retired from the park service as head planner in 1980, then worked for the City of Austin in Texas until 1987. He had lived in Vicksburg since 1996 and was a member of the Civil War Preservation Trust and Grand Canyon Trust.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Catarina and Abel Turello, and a sister, Mary Broxson, all of West Palm Beach, Fla.
Mr. Turello is survived by his wife, Patricia A. Turello of Vicksburg; two sons, Ltc. Michael D. Turello of Fort Belvoir, Va., and James D. Turello of Austin; and four grandchildren, Jonathan Turello, Catharine Turello, Stephen Turello and Dylan Turello, all of Fort Belvoir.
A celebration of his life will be from 2 until 3 p.m. Wednesday at Riles Funeral Home.

Cynthia Ann Young Wright
Services for Cynthia Ann Young Wright will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at King David No. 1 M.B. Church. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery under the direction of Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Wednesday until the service at the church.
Mrs. Wright died Jan. 1, 2004, at River Region Medical Center. She was 50.
Mrs. Wright was a member of King David M.B. Church No. 1. She had been employed with Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home for 12 years.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Catherine Young-Thornton; a stepfather, Henry Thornton; her father, Robert Hudson; her grandmother, Annie Mae Gibson; her great-grandmother who reared her, Elizabeth Benard Young; her great-grandfather, Clarence Young; a sister, Diane Young; two brothers, Tony Young and Tommy Ray Hudson; and a stepson, Ahmad Wright.
Survivors include her husband, Dennis Wright of Vicksburg; three daughters, Tiombe Maniel McRunnels, Tisheika Clark and Naheya Clark, all of Vicksburg; five brothers, Michael Young, Alvin Jenkins, Melvin Young, Ronnie Young and Gregory Hudson, all of Vicksburg; four sisters, Elizabeth Ann Bates of Kenner, La., Mary Ann Hudson of Vicksburg, Mary Alice Harris of Los Angeles and Georgia Hudson of Atlanta; and grandchildren and other relatives, including DeNeese White and members of the Benard, Young and Gaskin families of Vicksburg.
