Tyrone Allen
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. Services for Tyrone Allen, formerly of Edwards, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Mount Moriah M.B. Church in Edwards. Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 1 until 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Mr. Allen died Friday, Aug. 13, 2004, at his home in Birmingham, Ala. He was 38.
He is survived by his mother, Zelma Phillips of Edwards; his father, Robert Earl Williams of Edwards; his stepfather, James McPhearson of Jackson; a daughter, LaVonch Monique Williams of Edwards; one brother, James F. McPhearson of Washington, D.C.; two sisters, Barbara Hodge and Tina McPhearson Brookshire, both of Edwards; and other relatives and friends.
Dan Barnes Jr.
Services for Dan Barnes Jr. will be at noon Saturday at Pleasant Valley M.B. Church with the Rev. Douglas Bryant officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. Saturday until the service at the church.
Mr. Barnes died Friday, Aug. 13, 2004, at River Region Medical Center. He was 50.
He was retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Waterways Experiment Station, and he was a veteran of the war in Vietnam. He was a member of Pleasant Valley M.B. Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dan Barnes Sr. and Della Banks Barnes; and one sister, Ethel Barnes.
He is survived by one son, Larry Barnes of Las Vegas; one daughter, Melanie Nelson of Vicksburg; one brother, Willie “Dick” Barnes of Vicksburg; one sister, Minerva King of Compton, Calif.; three grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, cousins and others, including members of the Brown Washington Hunting Club.
Nell Louise Drummond
Nell Louise Drummond died Monday, Aug. 16, 2004, at her home. She was 78.
Born in Alabama City, Ala., Mrs. Drummond had lived in Turkey before moving to Vicksburg in 1970. She was a volunteer with the Retired Senior Volunteer Program, the Salvation Army Rescue Mission, River City Rescue Mission and the Humane Society. She was a member of the Kiwanis and Civitan clubs and was awarded the Vicksburg Exchange Club’s Book of Golden Deeds in 1993. She was a member of Highland Baptist Church.
Mrs. Drummond was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Drew Drummond; and a grandson, Jason Drummond.
Survivors include a son, Rickey E. Drummond of Brunswick, Ga.; a daughter, Karen Brown of Vancouver, Wash.; and five grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Brian Ivey officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Bill Strohm, Don Houston, James Hall, Tommy Roland, James Tuttle, Carl Dew, W.B. Duggins Jr., Paul Barrett, David Blackledge and Paul R. Polk.
Nancy Bell Johnson Mack
EDWARDS Services for Nancy Bell Johnson Mack will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Rose Hill M.B. Church in Bolton. Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from noon until 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Mack died Sunday, Aug. 15, 2004, at Central Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. She was 71.
She was a resident of Edwards.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Mack Sr.
She is survived by six sons, Willie Joe Johnson, Ricky Johnson and Quintin Webster, all of Edwards, Robert Johnson of Jackson, Delmar Johnson of West Memphis, Ark., and Bernard Webster of Kansas City, Kan.; four daughters, Peggy Johnson, Patricia Webster and Jeanette Bolton, all of Edwards, and Mary Ann Berry of Florence; a sister, Edna Hill Waters of Victor Valley, Calif.; two brothers, R.L. Morgan of Vicksburg and Clifton Mack of Biloxi; 67 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; stepchildren; and friends and other relatives, including Doris Bland of Utica.
Samuel C. McGriggs
UTICA Services for Samuel C. McGriggs will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Zion Travelers M.B. Church in Utica. Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Saturday until the service at the church.
Mr. McGriggs died Sunday, Aug. 15, 2004, at his home in Utica. He was 50.
He was a member of Mount Olive M.B. Church in Utica. He had worked for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mat Sinking Unit and Ingalls Shipbuilders in Pascagoula.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles McGriggs.
He is survived by his parents, Sam McGriggs Jr. and Bernice McGriggs, both of Utica; four brothers, Tony McGriggs of Chicago and Frank McGriggs, Calvin McGriggs and Joseph McGriggs, all of Utica; two sisters, Mintha Neal of Utica and Flora McGriggs Robinson of Chicago; and aunts, uncles and other relatives.
