Rita Michelle Callahan
Services for Rita Michelle “Chelle” Callahan will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at New Zion M.B. Church with the Rev. Henry Williams officiating. Burial will follow at New Zion Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 until 7 tonight at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home.
Ms. Callahan died Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2005, at River Region Medical Center. She was 28.
She was a member of New Zion M.B. Church.
She was preceded in death by her father, Scott Callahan Sr.; and two brothers, Jerome Turner Jr. and James Turner.
Survivors include three daughters, KeShawn Johnston, Kimberly Callahan and Karry Callahan, all of Vicksburg; her mother, Ruby Turner Callahan of Vicksburg; five brothers, Edward Earl Callahan, Scott Gary, Scott Callahan Jr., William Callahan and Joe Turner, all of Vicksburg; six sisters, Gloria Mitchell, Cora Turner, Brenda Carson Reed and Stephanie Carson Hubbard, all of Vicksburg, Nicholle Carson of Edwards and Kendra Carson Flowers of Utica.
Evelyn Gaines
UTICA – Evelyn Gaines died Sunday, Sept. 18, 2005, at her home in Utica. She was 60.
Ms. Gaines was a cook at the Pit Stop in Utica.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at West Haven Memorial Funeral Home in Utica. Burial will follow at Pine Grove M.B. Church. Visitation will be from 8:30 until 6 this evening at the funeral home.
Eunice Wheeless Hay
PORT GIBSON – Eunice Wheeless Hay died Thursday, Sept. 22, 2005, at Claiborne County Nursing Center in Port Gibson. She was 93.
Mrs. Hay was a lifelong resident of Port Gibson. She was a graduate of Belhaven College in Jackson. She was owner and operator of O.K. Cleaners in Port Gibson for over 35 years. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Port Gibson United Methodist Church where she served as president of United Methodist Women’s Organization.
Survivors include her son, George W. Hay of Port Gibson; one daughter, Alice H. Pope of Kingwood, Texas; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Port Gibson United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Harrison officiating. Burial will follow at Wintergreen Cemetery under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home in Port Gibson.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Saturday until the hour of service at the church.
Pallbearers will be John Coccaro, Bill Pope, Mark Pope, John Wheeless Jr., Sam Patterson, Trey Roberts, Walter Cade Jr. and Bill Case.
Honorary pallbearer will be Walter Cade Sr.
Edgar London Jr.
Services for Edgar “Zeke” London Jr. will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home with the Rev. Booker T. Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Mount OIive Cemetery at Villa Nova.
Mr. London died Sunday, Sept. 18, 2005, at his home. He was 48.
A self-employed carpenter, Mr. London was a member of Holy Hill M.B. Church.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edgar London Sr., and a stepsister, Lucy Warner.
He is survived by a son, Ernest Lamont Hunter of Vicksburg; his mother, Rosetta Rush London of Vicksburg; eight sisters, Joann Rush Parks, Mary Lee Williams, Gloria Dean Kline, Molly Laverne Tubwell, Sarah Ann Brown, Brenda Jean Wilson, Beverly Marie Hunter and Cynthia Paulette Johnson; four brothers, Tommy James London Sr., Eddie Charles London, Raymond Lee London and Michael Matthew London; and a stepbrother, Cleotha London of Chicago.
Belinda Ann Gray Sims
Services for Belinda Ann Gray Sims will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Taylor’s Chapel M.B. Church in Fayette with the Rev. Terry Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Israel M.B. Church Cemetery in Jefferson County.
Visitation will be from 6 until 7 p.m. Saturday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home.
Mrs. Sims died Sunday, Sept. 18, 2005, at her home. She was 44.
Mrs. Sims was a former employee of Rainbow Casino and Church’s Chicken. She was a member of Shady Grove M.B. Church, where she was a member of the usher board and director of the youth choir.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Lessie Mae Gray; one brother, Adam Brown Jr.; and one sister, Sherry Marie Brown.
Survivors include a daughter, Candice Gray of Vicksburg; two sons, Calvin Gray and Cedric Gray, both of Vicksburg; her father, Adam Brown Sr. of Vicksburg; five brothers, Melvin Brown of Killeen, Texas, Perry Brown of Fayette, Tyrone Reed of Charlotte, N.C., David Chambers of Vicksburg and Charles McDaniel of Southaven; one sister, Tamie Williams of Vicksburg; his maternal grandmother, Clara Mae Starks of Fayette; two grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
