During his brief appearance in court Thursday, Brown heard Patrick sentence him to three years under the supervision of the Mississippi Department of Corrections and then suspend the sentence for five years.

In addition, Patrick ordered $4,085 in restitution to the Vicksburg Warren Humane Society, a $1,000 fine, $1,000 to be paid to the Victims Assistance Fund and 100 hours of volunteer work with the humane society’s animal shelter.

Patrick also said Brown is not to have possession in any way of dogs of any type for the five years of his probation.

Following the sentencing, District Attorney Gil Martin said he will ask the judge to amend the order and have the community service performed somewhere other than the animal shelter.
