Work from up high

Robert Mclendon talks on his headset to helicopter pilot Brian Lacks with Aerial Solutions Inc. as he maneuvers a giant aerial saw around the power lines and the trees Wednesday near U.S 61 South and Warrenton Road. It was part of an effort to trim trees around Entergy power lines, but had to be stopped short because of high winds. The aerial saw, which is suspended from the helicopter, is used to trim vegetation along power lines. The trees being cleared Wednesday were along a stretch of 500,000 Kilo-Volt line. When the wind is strong enough and the weather is bad enough, employees with Asplundh end up having to climb the trees to saw off branches, taking considerably longer and costing more.
