Bobby E. Brown
BENTONIA Bobby E. Brown died Saturday, Dec. 25, 2004, at River Region Medical Center. He was 81.
Mr. Brown was born in Vicksburg to Pearl McCoy and Hudson Brown. He was a resident of Bentonia.
He served in the Army in World War II and retired as a machinist from McDermott Industries. He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by a wife, Louise Brown; a daughter, Carolyn Brown; and a granddaughter, Priscilla Chisolm.
He is survived by his wife, Frances H. Brown of Bentonia; two daughters, Barbara Dinger of Baton Rouge and Janice Hebert of Brookhaven; four sons, Ray Hilderbrand and Frank Hilderbrand, both of Bentonia, W.L. Walters of Winterhaven, Fla., and Guy Walters of Patterson, La.; a sister, Stephanie Cotten of Yazoo City; and 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Stricklin-King Funeral Home in Yazoo City with the Rev. Darby Combs officiating. Burial will follow at Short Creek Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7:30 tonight at the funeral home.
Shirley Cox
CRYSTAL SPRINGS Shirley Cox died Friday, Dec. 24, 2004. She was 77.
Mrs. Cox was preceded in death by a grandson, Milton Chambeless Jr., and a brother, Cliford Davidson.
She is survived by four daughters, Ruth Wilmoth of Crystal Springs, Ann May of Vicksburg, Kay Snelson of Pearl and Jean Walters May of Brookhaven; one sister, Rheta Mae McIntosh of Slidell, La.; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Stringer Funeral Home in Crystal Springs. Burial will follow at Terry Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.
C’Kyla Dixon
UTICA C’Kyla Dixon, infant daughter of Cedrick Dixon and Porscha Brown of Utica, died Saturday, Dec. 25, 2004, at University Medical Center in Jackson.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her grandparents and other relatives, including members of the Dixon, Brown and Snow families.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Rohelia Cemetery in Utica with the Rev. Charles Harper officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Robbins Funeral Home.
Geraldine Stokes Haney
UTICA Geraldine Stokes Haney died Saturday, Dec. 18, 2004, in Madison County. She was 63.
Mrs. Haney was a retired plant worker.
She is survived by her mother, Mary Ann Frankline Stokes; five brothers, Levi Stokes of Jackson and Mayor Charles Stokes, the Rev. James C. Stokes, the Rev. Michael Stokes and Andrew Stokes, all of Utica; and two sisters, Janet Washington and Mary Clemons, both of Jackson.
Services will be at noon Thursday at Westhaven Memorial Funeral Home in Utica with the Rev. Michael Stokes officiating. Burial will follow at Water Valley Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mary Louise Harmon
Mary Louionse Harmon died Friday, Dec. 24, 2004, at River Region Medical Center. She was 64.
Born in Bolton, Mrs. Harmon had been a Vicksburg resident most of her life. She was a graduate of Carr Central High School and Hinds Junior College’s School of Nursing, where she received a degree as a registered nurse.
She worked at Mercy Hospital and ParkView Regional Medical Center as a nursing supervisor and was later employed in home health by the State of Mississippi before retirement. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her father, Leroy Anderson Sr., and a brother, Johnny F. Anderson.
Survivors include her husband, John D. “Doug” Harmon of Vicksburg; a daughter, Michelle Carroll of Vicksburg; two sons, John E. “Ricky” Harmon and Wade “Rusty” Harmon, both of Vicksburg; her mother, Mary F. Anderson of Vicksburg; a brother, Leroy Anderson of Texas; eight grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and other relatives, including Diane Pettway of Vicksburg.
A Celebration of Life will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Riles Funeral Home with the Revs. Billy Brumfield and Elijah Brown officiating.
