Josie E. Carpenter

Mrs. Josie E. Carpenter died early Saturday, Oct. 22, 2005, at Vicksburg Convalescent Home. She was 93.

A native and lifelong resident of Vicksburg and Warren County, she was the daughter of the late Lyman and Kate Rollison Emrick. Mrs. Carpenter was a member of First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband L.L. Carpenter.

The family offers special thanks to Patient Choice Hospice and Vicksburg Convalescent Home.

Mrs. Carpenter is survived by a stepdaughter, Billie C Ulery of Vicksburg; three grandchildren, Luke Ulery of Columbia, Mo., Amy Brown and Susan Griggs, both of Vicksburg; four great-grandchildren, Joshua Brown and Parker Brown, both of Vicksburg, Evan Ulery and Benjamin Ulery, both of Columbia, Mo.

Funeral services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home with Dr. Matt Buckles, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday at 1 p.m. until the hour of service.

Pallbearers will be Luke Wery, Ronnie Brown, Chris Griggs, Donald Ladd and Jeffrey Holland.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 1607 Cherry St., Vicksburg, MS 39180.

Daisy Bell Emfinger

Daisy Bell Emfinger died Friday at her residence in Vicksburg. She was 76.

Mrs. Emfinger was a lifelong resident of Vicksburg. She worked at Westinghouse/Cooper Lighting for 20 years and was a member of Oakland Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Douglas and Maggie Freeman Price; her husband, Ernest Emfinger; two daughters, Ernestine Miller and Deborah Floyd; and a brother, Douglas Price Jr.

Survivors include two sons, James E. Emfinger and Christopher Emfinger, both of Vicksburg; five daughters, Sally Hambright, Patricia Emfinger, Maggie Hedrick, Janice Prescott and Stacey Donovan, all of Vicksburg; 13 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Devin Marr and Bro. Douglas Inman officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Raymond Prescott, Paul Donovan, James Hedrick, Patrick Hedrick, Red Hambright and Wayne Hambright.

Honorary pallbearers are Joe Holloway and Nelson Hearn.
