Iris Naylor Lewis

Services for Iris Naylor Lewis will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Vicksburg Church of Christ with Elder Clyde Redmon officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 until 7 p.m. Friday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Lewis died Monday, July 11, 2005, at St. Dominic Memorial Hospital in Jackson. She was 52.

Born in Warren County, Mrs. Lewis was a resident of Flora. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Jackson. She was a former employee of McRae’s and former manager of Cato’s.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Lorenza McDonald; a brother, Jimmy McDonald; and her father.

She is survived by Jack Hollins of Flora; four daughters, Lisa Anderson of Memphis, Malinda Naylor Grays of Vicksburg, Lillian Naylor of Flowood and Iris Naylor of Jackson; one brother, Charles Hobson of Richmond, Texas; one sister, Imelia Neda Venable of Brookhaven; seven grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and other relatives, including Lula J. Brown of Vicksburg who reared her.

Betty Jane Plank

Betty Jane Plank died Wednesday, July 13, 2005, at River Region Medical Center. She was 81.

Born in Toledo, Ohio, Mrs. Plank had been a Vicksburg resident since 1970. She was the daughter of Joseph F. and Jane Swinehart Taubken. She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Lee Plank; three sons, Michael Plank, Daniel Plank and Timothy Plank; and two brothers, Joseph Taubken and Tom Taubken.

Survivors include three daughters, Sue Bagby and Jane Plank, both of Vicksburg, and Barbara Inman of Oxford; two sons, Jerry Plank of Hot Springs, Ark., and Patrick Plank of Biloxi; and seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Cedar Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Patrick Farrell, pastor of St. Paul Catholic Church, officiating.

Visitation will be Friday at Riles Funeral Home from 1 p.m. until the service.

Charles B. Roesch

Charles B. “Boolie” Roesch died Monday, July 11, 2005, at his home after a long illness. He was 91.

A native and lifelong resident of Vicksburg, he was the son of the late Charles and Katie Kette Roesch. Mr. Roesch was retired from the Mississippi River Commission, a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a member of St. Michael Catholic Church.

Mr. Roesch was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Mary Katherine Roesch Robbins.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Florence Hullum Roesch; a daughter, Starr Marsha Grice-Yount and her husband, Michael David, both of Vicksburg; two grandchildren, Philip Grice and Amanda Starr Grice, both of Houston; a brother, George Roesch Sr.; a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Friday, July 15, 2005, at 11 a.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church with the Rev. Patrick Farrell officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be today from 4 until 7 p.m. with rosary service following at 7 at Fisher Funeral Home and Friday at St. Michael Catholic Church from 10 a.m. until the hour of service.

Pallbearers will be Donald Roesch, Dan Fordice, Richard Kette, George Kette, Philip Grice Jr. and George Roesch Jr.

Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home has charge of all arrangements.

John Henry Williams

Services for John Henry Williams will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home with the Rev. Elzie O’Neal officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Williams died Friday, July 8, 2005, at his home. He was 71.

Mr. Williams worked as a custodian for the Vicksburg Warren School District. He was a member of Hickory Tree M.B. Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Pete Williams and Susie B. Tolliver.

Survivors include one son, Leland Rashad Bingham of Vicksburg; three stepsons, Anthony Bingham, Kenneth Bingham and Fred Moore, all of Vicksburg; one stepdaughter, LaTasha Bingham of Vicksburg; one brother, George Brown of Chicago; two sisters, Betty Horton of Glendora and Lucinda Red of Clarksdale; five stepgrandchildren; and other relatives, including Ruby Bingham of Vicksburg.
