Evelyn McCary Luckett

Evelyn McCary Luckett died Monday, June 27, 2005, at River Region West Campus. She was 90.

Mrs. Luckett was a lifelong resident of Vicksburg. She was employed with Waterways Experiment Station for 20 years in the Chief of Reports department. She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church and the Altar Guild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Sidney Epperson McCary; five brothers, E.B. McCary, Winston McCary, R.D. McCary, Percy McCary and George McCary; and one sister, Kathleen Schlottman.

Survivors include her husband, John A. Luckett of Vicksburg; one daughter, Mary Anne Kirklin of Vicksburg; three sisters, Anna Green and Mary Brown, both of Jackson, and Mildred Anderson of Corvallis, Ore.; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Christ Episcopal Church with the Rev. Ann Whitaker officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Wednesday until the hour of service at Fisher Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Tim Fagerburg, Tommy Kirklin, Tom Hill, Newell Murphy Jr., Roger Barlow and Chuck Mendrop.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ernest Barlow, Russell Barnes, Otho Mendrop, Charlie Miller, Bill Stimac, Dr. Anita Tribble, John Bove, Stanley Kline, Christ Church Altar Guild, Jim Hess and Ed Buckner.

Memorials may be made to the Christ Episcopal Church, 1115 Main St., Vicksburg, MS 39180.

Ann G. Williams

Ann G. Williams died Sunday, June 26, 2005, at River Region Medical Center. Born in Nantucket, Md., she had been a resident of Vicksburg since 1950.

Mrs. Williams was the daughter of the late Charles Grant and Mary McDonald Grant. She retired from BellSouth Telephone Company with 25 years of service.

Mrs. Williams was active in the Meals on Wheels program, a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and Porters Chapel United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John R. “Skip” Williams; a sister, Janet Baszinet; and two brothers, Kenneth Grant and Joseph Grant.

She is survived by a daughter, Betty Hickey and husband, Randy, of Byram; two sons, Joseph H. Williams and wife, Shellie, of Yazoo City and George A. Williams of Vicksburg; one granddaughter, Vanessa Williams of Flora; and one grandson, Rusty Hickey of Florence.

A Celebration of Life will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Riles Funeral Home with the Rev. Dural Ragsdale, pastor of Porters Chapel United Methodist Church, and the Rev. Jimmy Biedenharn, pastor of Epworth United Methodist Church of Jackson, officiating.
