Leiland M. Duke
Leiland M. Duke died at his Vicksburg home on Friday, Dec. 9, 2005. He was 92.
Mr. Duke, a resident of Vicksburg since 1947, was a retired lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve, and a retired electrical engineer for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Waterways Experiment Station.
Mr. Duke was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife Edna in 1962, and his wife Emily in 2002; and a son, Sam Moore.
He is survived by three sons, Leiland M. Duke Jr. of Germantown, Tenn., Jim Moore of Boca Raton, Fla., and Bill Moore of Clinton; two daughters, Susan D. Woods of Camden, Tenn., and Marion Burke of Jackson; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great- grandchildren.
Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Glenwood Funeral Home prior to the service at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Green Acre Cemetery.
The family requests donations be made to First Presbyterian Church or the charity of their choice.
David Duncan
ST. JOSEPH, La. – David Duncan of St. Joseph, La., died Friday, Dec. 9, 2005. He was 63.
Mr. Duncan was born in Bastrop, La. He was a retired engineer for Cooper Lighting in Vicksburg. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in St. Joseph.
He is survived by his wife, Carole Duncan of St. Joseph; two sons, David Duncan Jr. of West Monroe, La., and Steven Duncan of Brandon; one daughter, Christina Rushing of Brandon; five grandchildren; and his mother, Ellen Duncan of Bastrop.
Services for Mr. Duncan will be at 3 today at First United Methodist Church in St. Joseph with the Rev. Jonathan King officiating. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the service.
Arrangements are under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home of Tallulah. Memorials may be made to the American Breast Cancer Foundation.
Kahty Hunter Rivera
Kathy Hunter Rivera died Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2005, at River Region Medical Center. She was 48.
Ms. Rivera was born in Jackson and lived most of her life in Vicksburg, where she graduated from Vicksburg High School in 1976 and received her LPN from Mississippi College. She was employed by River Region Medical Center for a number of years.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Maxie Ruth Hunter.
She is survived by her father, James L. Hunter of Lena, Miss.; a son, James N. Rivera of Mayersville; a sister, Shannon Hunter Oden of Vicksburg; two brothers, Tim Hunter and Clay Hunter, both of Vicksburg; companion Clifton Chandler of Vicksburg; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held Saturday, Dec. 10, at Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home, with Rev. Patrick Farrell officiating.

Sha’ Mela Lario Robertson
Sha’Mela Lario Robertson died Thursday, Dec. 8, 2005, at her home. She was 23.
Ms. Robinson was a student at Hinds Community College majoring in nursing.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Rose Mary Hubbard; maternal grandparents, Sam and Josephine Johnson; and her uncle, Malcolm Robertson.
Survivors include her parents, Roosevelt Robertson of Vicksburg and Brenda J. Keller of Port Gibson; a son, Reginald Verial Raaya Rogers of Pattison; a daughter, Rakiyah Vershay Robertson of Pattison; two brothers, Justin Jones of Jackson and Kerrick D. Johnson of Port Gibson; seven sisters, Atlease Robertson, Darcissus Robertson, April Lyons, and Rose Marie Robertson, all of Vicksburg, and Kenya Johnson, DaShawna Johnson and Nachella Johnson, all of Port Gibson; and other relatives and friends including the Johnson and Bass families.
She was a member of Mount Burner Baptist Church.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Williams Funeral Service.
Larry W. Savage
Larry W. Savage died Friday, Dec. 9, 2005, at the Olive Branch Nursing Home in Tallulah. He was 60.
Mr. Savage was born in Lucedale, Miss., and had lived and worked in Tallulah most of his life. He had worked construction for many companies and was a plant supervisor at T.L. James Asphalt Co. He was a member of Parkview Baptist Church.
He was peceded in death by his wife, Lois Ann Savage, and his father, Alfred Savage Sr.
Survivors include his mother, Sidnah Savage of Tallulah; three sons, Larry Savage Jr., William Terrell Savage and Shon Savage, all of Tallulah; a daughter, Jimmie Terri Savage of Tallulah; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild; two brothers, Alfred Savage and David Savage, both of Natchitoches, La.; four sisters, Marion King of Delhi, La., Patricia Pierce and Thelma Whitaker, both of Tallulah, and Gloria Mayeux of Vicksburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services for Mr. Savage will be at 2 today at the chapel of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home in Tallulah with Rev. Cletus Moak officiating. Visitation will be an hour prior to service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Silver Cross Cemetary.
Pallbearers will be Tom King, Tim King, Eugene King, Stevie Sykes, Rudy Hernandez, Adam Savage and Bump Lee.
