Doris Johnston Redding
Doris Johnston Redding died Thursday, Nov. 17, 2005, at St. Catherine’s Village in Madison. She was 85.
Born in Eros, La., Mrs. Redding moved to Vicksburg in 1960 and had lived in Madison for the past several years. She was a homemaker and past matron of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Oliver Redding.
She is survived by her caregiver, Darlene Roberts of Madison.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Green Acres Memorial Park with the Rev. Ed Hightower officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home.
Visitation will be at the funeral home from 10 a.m. Monday until the service.
Thelma Turner Remore
FOREST, La. – Thelma Turner Remore died Thursday, Nov. 17, 2005, at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe. She was 86.
Mrs. Remore was a lifelong resident of Forest, La.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Earl Turner and Clarence Joseph Remore; and her parents, Lewis and Maggie Madora May.
She is survived by two sons, Shannon Turner Sr. of Loop, Texas, and Johney Turner of Forest; a brother, Willie May of Oak Grove; a sister, Elois Davis of Natchez; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and other relatives.
Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Cox Funeral Home in Oak Grove with the Rev. Mike Ray officiating. Burial will follow at New Forest Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be John Davis, Ricky Jones, Kenneth Jones, Robert Turner and Shannon Turner Jr.
Roberta Mae Willis
Roberta Mae Willis died Friday, Nov. 18, 2005, at River Region Medical Center. She was 59.
Mrs. Willis was preceded in death by her husband, Jap Willis Jr.; her parents, Clarence Conway Sr. and Mattie Mae Higgins; and one brother, Clarence Conway Higgins Jr.
She is survived by one son and one daughter, Timothy Higgins and Charlene Higgins Middlebrook, both of Vicksburg; three sisters, Mary Lee Vanazdell of Waterloo, Iowa; Betty Jean Higgins and Diane H. Marshall, both of Vicksburg; two brothers, Robert Alonzo Higgins of Muskegon, Mich., and Karl Young of Chicago; nine grandchildren, and other relatives, including Bessie Johnson of Chicago.
Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
