Francis Penn Fowler

OAK GROVE – Francis Penn Fowler died Wednesday, May 25, 2005, at Carroll Nursing Home in Oak Grove. He was 80.

Mr. Fowler was a lifelong resident of West Carroll Parish. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Marine Corps. He retired from International Paper Co. in 1986. He was a Mason and a member of the VFW and Board of Directors for White Oaks Apartments in Oak Grove.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Albert Fowler Sr. and Velma Jackson Fowler; and three brothers, Louis Albert Fowler Jr., William Wade Fowler and Keith Fowler.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Marie Mayhall Fowler; five daughters, Francine Fowler Evans of Rayville, Carolyn Fowler Brown of Lake Providence, Kathy D. Fowler of Vancouver, Wash., and Jeannie Fowler Ramsey and Penny Fowler Johnson, both of Oak Grove; one son, Robin Tyson of Oak Grove; a sister, Norma Fowler Humphries of Ruston, La.; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Cox Funeral Home.

Margaret A. Harris

Margaret A. Harris died Thursday, May 26, 2005, at River Region Medical Center. She was 57.

Mrs. Harris was a certified nurse’s aide at Shady Lawn Nursing Home. She was a member of Locust Grove M.B. Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Don Banks Sr. and Martha Lee Brown Banks; her maternal grandparents, Indiana Paulding Brown and Joe Brown Sr.; and her paternal grandparents, Rosetta Clark Banks and Allen Banks.

She is survived by two sons, Francis C. Harris Jr. and Eddie Harris, both of Vicksburg; two daughters, Angela Hunter and Deborah Harris, both of Vicksburg; seven brothers, Eddie Brown Sr., Don Banks Jr., Henry Banks, Frederick Banks, Paul Banks Sr., Ray Banks Sr. and Wallace Banks Sr., all of Vicksburg; a sister, Donzie Lee Harris of Vicksburg; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and nieces and nephews.

W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Ira Parker Sr.

Services for Ira Parker Sr. will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Standfield M.B. Church with the Rev. Johnny Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Saturday at Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home.

Mr. Parker died Monday, May 23, 2005, at River Region Medical Center. He was 30.

Mr. Parker was an auto mechanic for Vicksburg Car Store.

He was preceded in death by his father, Square Harris Sr.; three brothers, Willie Parker, Square Harris Jr. and Danny Lee Taylor; and a sister, Barbara Jean Baldwin.

He is survived by his mother, Flora Lee Parker of Vicksburg; two sons, Ira Parker Jr. and Vadoll Parker, both of Houston, Texas; a daughter, Iris Monique Curry of Vicksburg; his grandmother, Stella Mae Brown of Vicksburg; his fiancee, Keshia Little of Vicksburg; 14 sisters, Victoria Parker, Flora Mae Parker, Mary Jane Parker, Rodena Gilmore, Yvonne Shelby, Irene Harris, Queenie Harris, Margaret Cole, Ayesha Davis, Frankie Williams, LouWanda Miles, Wilma Anderson, Mary Wilson and Dorothy Thomas, all of Vicksburg; 14 brothers, Elijah Parker, George Parker, Robert Parker Sr., Curtis Parker, Henry Harris, Charles Harris, Earnest Rogers, Anthony Williams, Mack Charles Taylor, Norh Taylor and John Taylor, all of Vicksburg, Michael Thomas of St. Joseph, James Tribble of Minneapolis and Lee Chiles of Detroit; and nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

Nathaniel Wilson Sr.

UTICA – Nathaniel Wilson Sr. died Tuesday, May 24, 2005, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. He was 48.

Mr. Wilson was employed as a counselor’s aide at Oakley Training School, a deputy sheriff in Copiah County, a security guard at Hinds Community College and a fireman with the Utica Fire Department.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Westhaven Memorial Funeral Home in Utica. Burial will follow at New Chapel Hill Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Sarah Miller Wilson

VALLEY PARK – Sarah Miller Wilson died Wednesday, May 26, 2005, at Shady Lawn Nursing Home. She was 90.

Mrs. Wilson was a longtime resident of the Kelso community. A homemaker, she was a member and mother of Bethlehem M.B. Church of Kelso.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley Wilson; a son, Buddy Wilson; her parents, Alex Sr. and Mary Bradford Miller; and three sisters.

Survivors include her daughter, Alberta Wilson Joiner of Greenville; a brother, the Rev. Alex Miller of Vicksburg; a sister, Thelma Mobley of Hollandale; and nieces, nephews and other relatives, including Notton Jones of Vicksburg.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Mount Zion M.B. Church of Cary under the direction of Century Funeral Home of Yazoo City.
