Duncan Boykin.

Duncan Boykin died Friday, Sept. 22, 2006, at River Region Medical Center. He was 80.

Mr. Boykin was born in Delta City and was a resident of Vicksburg for 28 years. He was retired from the U.S. Forestry Service and was a Navy veteran of World War II.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jessie Mae Boykin, and a daughter, Shirley Vance; three sisters, Eunice Knight, Judith Strong and Mary Evelyn Boykin.

He is survived by his wife, Ava Lick Boykin of Vicksburg; a daughter, Patricia Lewis of Vicksburg; three sons, James C. Boykin of Leland, Bernard Ed Boykin of Greenville and W.D. Boykin Jr. of Jackson, Tenn.; 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Glenwood Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Monday until the service.

Pallbearers will be J.C. Pittman, Brad Stroud, Jeff Azlin, Willie Woodrick, Bill Downey, Jay Boykin and Rick Fife. Honorary pallbearers will be Randy Lewis, Cameron Lewis, Curtis Lewis, Joseph Boykin, Cliff Boykin, Beau Boykin, Charles Holmes and Bill Azlin.

T.E. Harris.

PORT GIBSON – Services for Elder T.E. Harris will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Christian Chapel Church in Port Gibson with the Rev. Alvin Jackson of Park Avenue Christian Church in New York officiating. Burial will be at St. Luke Christian Church Cemetery in Pattison.

Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Monday at Thompson Funeral Home and Tuesday from noon until the service.

Mr. Harris died Saturday, Sept. 23, 2006, at his home. He was 73.

He was pastor at Indianola Christian Church in Indianola for 53 years, pastor of Christian Chapel Church in Pattison for 51 years and pastor of St. Luke Christian Church in Pattison for 24 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Mary Agnes Hamilton-Harris; a brother, Charles Harris Jr.; and two sisters, Lee Ethel Claiborne and Ada Ruth Boyd.

He is survived by a brother, Nathan Harris; two sisters, Emma Lee Jones, both of Jackson, and Mae Esther Harris of Port Gibson; and other relatives and friends.

Annette Smith Laird.

TALLULAH – Services for Annette Smith Laird will be at 2 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church in Tallulah with the Revs. Crawford Williams and John Rushing officiating. Burial will follow at Silver Cross Cemetery in Tallulah with Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home in charge. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the funeral home in Tallulah.

Mrs. Laird died Saturday, Sept. 23, 2006, at Madison Parish Hospital in Tallulah. She was 72.

She was a retired school teacher and a homemaker.

Johnny H. Welborn.

UTICA – Pastor Johnny H. Welborn died Friday, Sept. 22, 2006, at his residence. He was 68.

Born in Covington County, Miss., he was the son of the late Troy Welborn and Julia Eaton Welborn. He was a graduate of Collins High School in Collins and Louisiana Baptist University in Shreveport, La. Serving 14 years with the Army National Guard, he later was associate chaplain for the Guard.

Pastor Welborn was a resident of Utica for the past 19 years and was a former longtime resident of Jackson. He served with the Jackson Police Department as a police officer and chaplain and had participated in numerous gospel concerts, where he was known as the &#8220Singing Policeman.” Pastor Welborn was pastor of Warrenton Independent Baptist Church from 1987 until his death.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Willard Welborn.

Pastor Welborn is survived by his wife, Bobbie Welborn of Utica; two daughters, Lisa Welborn Taylor of Learned and Julia Welborn Ybarra of Ventura County, Calif.; one granddaughter, Brittney Deen of Ventura County; three sisters, Lorena McDaniel of Columbia, Miss., and Mary Welborn and Carolyn Fortenberry, both of Mount Olive, Miss.; and one brother, Wilson Welborn of Pearl.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Warrenton Independent Baptist Church, 829 Belva Drive, with Brother Marvin E. Curtis Jr., associate pastor, officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Union Baptist Church Cemetery, Highway 532, east of Mount Olive, under the direction of Riles Funeral Home. Visitation will be Monday from 6 until 8 p.m. at Warrenton Independent Baptist Church.

Pallbearers will be Scott Audirsch, Scottee Dodson, A.J. Stevens, Aaron Curtis, Marvin Curtis, Jonathan Curtis, Charles Jordan, Ken Lambert and Eric Allen.

Honorary pallbearers will be the men of the church.
