Joe V. Allen.
Joe V. Allen died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2006, at the G.V. “Sonny” Montgomery Veterans Administration Hospital. He was 65.
Mr. Allen was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church. He was a 1959 graduate of Rosa A. Temple High School and a veteran of the Army.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Allen Sr. and Mamie Allen; and a son, Xavier Allen.
Survivors include his wife, Bertha S. Allen of Vicksburg; two daughters, Carmen Burham and Portia T. Allen, both of Dallas; two brothers, Willie Allen Jr. of Seattle, Wash., and Larry V. Allen of Vicksburg; one sister, Carolyn Blakeley of Chicago; four grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Charles O. Arneson.
TALLULAH – Charles O. Arneson died Thursday, Aug. 10, 2006, at Olive Branch Senior Care Center in Tallulah. He was 92.
Mr. Arneson was born in Joyce, Iowa, and had lived in Tallulah for 68 years. He was a retired farmer, aircraft mechanic and crop duster. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Tallulah, OX5 Aviation Pioneers and the Barak Shriners of Monroe.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Doris E. Arneson.
Survivors include two sons, Robert L. Arneson and Charles “Gary” Arneson, both of Tallulah; and four granddaughters.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home in Tallulah with the Revs. Jean Foreman and Ferre D’Cruz officiating.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Saturday until the service at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church or St. Edward’s Catholic Church.
Paul Peter Bellan Jr.
BATON ROUGE – Paul Peter Bellan Jr. died Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2006, at his home in Baton Rouge at the age of 79. He was a retired chemical engineer from Kaiser Aluminum and a native of Vicksburg. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, a graduate of LSU and an avid Tiger football fan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Peter Bellan Sr. and Myrtis Burnett Bellan; and his sister, Virginia Bellan Bogan.
He is survived by his brother-in-law, Robert A. Bogan Jr.; his nieces, Linda Bogan Pippins, Ellen Bogan Lee, Paula Bogan Drone; and his nephews, Robert A. Bogan III and Patrick Bogan, all of Baton Rouge.
Visitation will be from noon until 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul Catholic Church, 713 Crawford St. in Vicksburg, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 2 p.m. with Father Patrick Farrell officiating. Interment will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Fisher Funeral Home.
Mary Daniels Brown.
EDWARDS – Mary Daniels Brown died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2006, at her home in Edwards. She was 73.
Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by one daughter, Martha F. Gordon; her parents; two sisters; and five brothers.
She is survived by three sons, Carl Ray Daniels, David B. Daniels and William R. Brown, all of Edwards; two daughters, Patsy Daniels and Ledonna Daniels, both of Edwards; 24 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at St. James M.B. Church in Edwards. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 until 7 p.m. Saturday at Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home.
Rosie Mae Brown.
Rosie Mae Brown died Friday, Aug. 4, 2006, at her home in Vicksburg. She was 54.
She is survived by her mother, Rosetta Brown of Vicksburg; a son, Robert Lee Smith Jr. of Memphis; a stepson, James Warfield of Dallas; four brothers, Curtis Brown, Daniel Brown and Noah Brown, all of Cary, and Larry Brown of Vicksburg; four sisters, Tara Griffin and Christine Sanders, both of Cary, Willie Mae Brown of Vicksburg and Debbie Brown of Memphis; five grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be at noon Saturday at Mount Zion M.B. Church No. 1 with the Rev. Larry Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Cary Community Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 until 8 tonight at Walker Funeral Home in Rolling Fork.
James Felton Jr.
ROXIE, Miss – James Felton Jr. died Monday, Aug. 7, 2006, at his home in Roxie, Miss. He was 75.
Born in Jefferson County, Mr. Felton retired from Illinois Central Railroad as a truck driver. He served on the deacon’s board at Rose Hill M.B. Church No. 1.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley C. Felton; his parents; and a granddaughter, Jossline Stampley.
He is survived by 10 sons, Shaka Kumi Felton of Bude, Miss., Lee Felton, Darren Colenberg Sr., James L. Hall, Gary Hall, Shelby Hall, the Rev. Elvis E. Colenberg, Issac Colenberg and the Rev. Anthony C. Colenberg, all of Fayette, and the Rev. John K. Colenberg of Jackson; four daughters, Veronica Stampley, Betty King and Glory Flores, all of Fayette, and Vanessa Johnson of Lorman; three brothers, Frank Felton, Steve Felton and Richard Felton, all of Milwaukee; five sisters, Lillian Harris, Fannie Felton, Mary Williams and Katherine Felton, all of Chicago, and Mary Owens of Cannonsburg, Miss.; 47 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends, including Sandra Johnson of Fayette.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Rose Hill M.B. Church No. 1 in Fayette with the Rev. Earnest Ford Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 until 7 tonight at Rollins Funeral Home Chapel in Fayette.
Pallbearers will be deacons of Rose Hill M.B. Church No. 1.
Honorary pallbearers will be children and grandchildren.
Kathy Ragland Gilbert.
Kathy Ragland Gilbert died Thursday, Aug. 10, 2006. She was 49.
Mrs. Gilbert was born in Vicksburg and was a graduate of Warren Central High School and the Hinds School of Nursing, where she received an associate degree in nursing.
She was employed by the Vicksburg Hospital and Clinic for 10 years and later ParkView Regional Medical Center for four years. Prior to her illness, she was an ICU nurse at River Region Medical Center. She was a member of the Vicksburg Church of Christ.
She is survived by her husband, Charles “Chuck” Gilbert of Vicksburg; her parents, Kenneth and Mary Lois Sheffield Ragland; a son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey Michael Taylor and his wife, Karen; a stepdaughter, Catrina Gilbert Riley; a grandson, Noah Taylor; and a sister, Donna Ragland.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Riles Funeral Home Chapel with Reggie Crawford officiating. Burial will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. Saturday until the hour of the service.
Pallbearers will be Jeffrey Michael Taylor, Adam Frost, Tal Sheffield, John Johnson, Hobbs Freeman and Gordon Cotton.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Paul Pierce, Dr. Martin Newcomb, Carol George Wood, Beth Forbes Porter and Margaret Smith Richmond.

Services for Shaniya S. Hill, infant daughter of Shaneka Hill and Antonie “Main” Scott, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Travelers Rest M.B. Church, Bowmar Avenue. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home.
Shaniya died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2006, at River Region Medical Center.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her maternal grandparents, Bradford and Adriene Smith of Vicksburg; her paternal grandparents, Zeddie and Aggie Hill of Bloomington, Minn., and Gloria Scott of Vicksburg; her great-grandparents, Shirley Smith, Willie Smith and Ed and Rose Goodman, all of Vicksburg; and aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Albert M. Kleinman Sr.
Albert M. Kleinman Sr. died early Thursday, Aug. 10, 2006, at River Region West Campus. He was 88.
A native and life long resident of Vicksburg, he was the son of the late Albert L. and Ruby Tucker Kleinman. He was a construction supervisor for the Pipe Fitters Local 619, retiring after more than 35 years of service. Mr. Kleinman was of the Baptist faith. A veteran of the U. S. Army, he served with Company B 503d Parachute Infantry during WWII. Mr. Kleinman was past president of Oak Bend Hunting Club, where he was an avid hunter and fisherman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Martha M. Kleinman in 2001; a grandson, Joshua D. Kleinman in 1990; two brothers, Walter L. Kleinman in 2001 and Harry L. Kleinman in 1968.
Mr. Kleinman is survived by three daughters, Kay K. McGee of Lorman, Lynn K. Wright of Clinton and Martha K. Hall of Vicksburg; four sons, Albert M. Kleinman Jr. of Granbury, Texas, David R. Kleinman of Columbia, South America, Paul B. Kleinman and John R. Kleinman, both of Vicksburg; two sisters, Lois K. Bowers and Mary K. Schultz, both of Vicksburg; 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Sidney Fletcher Sr. officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Saturday until the hour of service at the funeral home.
Mr. Kleinman’s grandsons will be pallbearers; J. W. Wright Jr., Timothy G. Wright, Gregory L. Minis, Albert M. Kleinman III, Kasey C. Kleinman, Claude T. Hall Jr., Benjamin K. Hall and Zackary P. Hicks.
Rosie Marie Selvy Shelby.
Rosie Marie Selvy Shelby died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2006, at her home. She was 53.
Mrs. Shelby was a former employee of Vicksburg Trace Haven for 27 years and served as church musician at area churches for 37 years. She was a member of Bethlehem M.B. Church.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Angela Michelle Adams; her grandmother, Lora Warren; and her grandfather, Leo Cage.
She is survived by two daughters, Gwen Shelby and Kayleen Louis, both of Vicksburg; one son, Eugene Lewis of Vicksburg; her parents, Luther and Katie Selvy of Vicksburg; nine sisters, Mary E. Wilson, Minnie Selvy, Betty Allen, Lora Selvy, Algina Selvy, Katie R. Selvy, Mattie Selvy, Monica Hall Hudson and Willia Selvy, all of Vicksburg; three brothers, Henry Selvy, Luther Earl Selvy and Willie B. Selvy, all of Vicksburg; four grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
