Elma Lanore Boatman.

Services for Elma Lanore Boatman were to be today at 11 a.m. at Riles Funeral Home with the Revs. Chip Starnes and Ruth Pugh officiating. Burial was to follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Boatman died Saturday, April 1, 2006, at River Region Medical Center in Vicksburg. She was 41.

Born in Washington, Ind., Mrs. Boatman had lived in Vicksburg since 1973. A medical records analyst for The Street Clinic, she was formerly employed with Kid’s Connection for three years. She attended Bovina Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, James B. Tanner; and a sister, Nora A. Kranzman.

Survivors include her husband, Glenn A. Boatman Sr. of Vicksburg; one son, Glenn A. Boatman Jr. of Vicksburg; her parents, Ruth and Robert Derryberry, both of Vicksburg; her maternal grandmother, Nora A. Tanner of Vicksburg; and one sister, Christina Creston of Vicksburg.

Pallbearers were Raymond Elledge, Jason Derryberry, Danny Mitchell, Stan Collins, Justin Boatman, Neal Massey, Fran Crowley and Ray Boatman.

Memorials may be made to Memorial and Honor Program, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105-1942.

Minnie L. Meeks.

Minnie L. Meeks died Tuesday, April 4, 2006, at River Region Medical Center in Vicksburg. She was 87.

A homemaker, Mrs. Meeks was a member of Mount Pisgah M.B. Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Meeks Sr.; one son, Dale Douglas Meeks; and a sister, Ruby Hall.

Survivors include five sons, Robert Henry Meeks Jr. and Melvin &#8220Teddy” Meeks, both of Aurora, Ill., Calvin Ray Meeks of Naperville, Ill., George Winston Meeks of Houston and Earl &#8220Dusty” Meeks of Vicksburg; four daughters, Gloria Ann Roan of Las Vegas, A. Renee Buck of Vallejo, Calif., Karen Levette Meeks of Herndon, Va., and Robbie Marie Meeks of Vicksburg; one sister, Gleneva Flowers of Chicago; two brothers, Sam Odie Bowman and William Bowman, both of Vicksburg; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and other relatives, including the Williams, Reed, Gaskin and Prentiss families.
