Leonard Grey.

Leonard Grey died Monday, Dec. 11, 2006, at Promise Specialty Hospital. He was 82.

Born and reared in Holly Bluff, Mr. Grey had lived most of his life in Vicksburg. A Navy veteran, he was self-employed in the mobile home business. He was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bennie and Eather Lowery Grey; a brother, Frank Grey; and two sisters, Mary Shiers and Lucy Bell Brown.

Survivors include his wife, Edna Overman Grey of Vicksburg; one daughter, Joan Whitehead of Vicksburg; two sons, Roland Grey of Vicksburg and Bennie Grey of Rincon, Ga.; three brothers, R.V. Grey, George Grey and Billy Ray Grey, all of Vicksburg; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Green Acres Memorial Park with the Rev. Ronnie O’Quinn officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Rex Grey, Wayne Grey, Brian Morgan, Jaime Blok, Sandy Whitehead and Don Kelly.

Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Grey and John Overman.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Eloise Comstock Rosser.

REYNOLDSBURG, Ohio – Eloise Comstock Rosser died Thursday, Dec. 7, 2006, at Wesley Ridge Retirement Community in Reynoldsburg, Ohio. She was 92.

Mrs. Rosser was the daughter of the late Julia Robertson and Raymond James Comstock of Sylvania, Ohio. A 1936 graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University, she served two consecutive terms on the Alumni Board of Directors and was an OWU 1994 Alumni Award winner. She served as president of the Dayton YWCA and was a member of Theta Alpha Phi, Delta Gamma, P.E.O., Delta Kappa Gamma, Grace United Methodist Church, Dayton Women’s Literary Club and the Dayton Council on World Affairs.

She received the Belinda Award as 1956 Clubwoman of the Year.

She received her master’s degree from Miami University and taught English for 24 years at Northmont High School, where she was chairman of the English Department.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond James Comstock Jr.; her husband of 45 years, Rollin L. Rosser; and a son, Alan Comstock Rosser.

She is survived by a son, Tryon Comstock Rosser of Jackson; two daughters, Judith Rosser Shepp of Mount Dora, Fla., and Rebecca Rosser Donnally of Baltimore, Ohio; a foster daughter, Mary Ann Pretzinger of Kettering, Ohio; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Dec. 27 at Grace United Methodist Church, 1001 Harvard Blvd., Dayton.

Allen Bryan Thompson.

Allen Bryan Thompson died Sunday, Dec. 10, 2006, at his home in Vicksburg. He was 84.

Mr. Thompson had been a resident of Vicksburg since 1946. A U.S. veteran of World War II, he retired from Waterways Experiment Station as an engineer. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Vicksburg.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Margie Thompson.

He is survived by a son, Freddy Thompson of Jasper, Ala.; a daughter, Jo Thompson Haney of Greenville; a sister, Audery Meredith of Baton Rouge; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. John G. McCall officiating. Burial will follow at the Welcome Home Cemetery in Columbia, La.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. Wednesday until the hour of service.

Pallbearers will be Bryan Thompson, Dr. Danny Whitaker, Fred Baldwin and Bub Hudson.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund or Vicksburg Warren Humane Society.

Le’Evelyn Grace Westmoreland.

TALLULAH – Le’Evelyn Grace Westmoreland died Sunday, Dec. 10, 2006, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. She was 70.

Mrs. Westmoreland was a native of New Albany, Miss., and had lived in Madison Parish most of her life. She graduated from Tallulah High School and attended Mississippi University for Women. She owned and operated Le’Evelyn’s School of Dance for 20 years and also served as activities director at Tallulah High School from 1971 until 1980. She was coordinator and choreographer for the Louisiana Allstar Marching Band Majorettes.

With her husband, she founded the Farmer’s Classic golf tournament at Tallulah Country Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Burney Rock Westmoreland; a twin sister, Le’Eleanor Grace; a brother, William Leander Grace; and her parents, Leander Simms and Leila Evelyn Grace.

Survivors include three daughters, Le’Eleanor Westmoreland of Tallulah, Celeste Thames of Sondheimer and Stephanie Hulsey of Birmingham, Ala.; one brother, Charles Thomas Grace of Port Gibson; two grandsons; and nieces and nephews.

A candlelight memorial services will be at 5:15 p.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church of Tallulah with the Revs. Jean Forman and John Rushing officiating.

Visitation will be from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Westmoreland home, 907 Liberty St. in Tallulah.
