The St. Al boys (21-8) will host Thomastown, the third-place team from Division 5, on Tuesday in a Class 1A South State satellite game.

Flashes coach Drew McBrayer was hoping for more fight from his boys’ team.

&#8220We didn’t compete and West Lincoln was better in every aspect,” McBrayer said. &#8220We got hammered. I’m very disappointed that we didn’t rise to the situation of playing in a championship game.”

West Lincoln (22-4) placed all five starters in double figures, led by Stephen Jones’ 18 points. The Bears shot 56 percent in the first half to double up a cold shooting St. Al team, which made just 7 of 25 attempts. That translated to a 40-20 halftime lead for the Bears.

&#8220We came in here ready to play. We didn’t play well the first two times we played them and we got beat,” West Lincoln coach Lane Young said.

The Bears hit six of their first seven shots to start the second half, turning the game into a complete rout at 50-22. St. Al managed to trim away at the big lead, getting it down to 23 by the end of the third quarter, and then 18 by the end of the game.
