Membsy Fisher Jr.

Services for Membsy Fisher Jr. will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Jackson Street M.B. Church with the Rev. John W. Carroll Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 until 6 p.m. Saturday at Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home.

Mr. Fisher died Sunday, May 14, 2006, at River Region Medical Center. He was 75.

Employed with Vicksburg Family Development Center, Mr. Fisher was a member and deacon of Jackson Street M.B. Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Membsy Fisher Sr. and Maggie Winston Fisher; five brothers, C.J. Fisher, Frank Fisher, Horace Fisher, Jim Fisher and George Fisher; and a sister, Maggie Lee Otis.

Survivors include six sons, Ray Fisher Sr. of Vallejo, Calif., Larry Fisher of Vicksburg, Michael Fisher of Detroit, Jimmy Wright of St. Gabriel, La., Johnny Wright of Greenwood and Cornelius Fisher of Aurora, Ill.; six daughters, Diane Fisher Williams of Detroit, Sharon Fisher Hill of Vallejo, Connie Fisher Walker of Vicksburg, Shelia Fisher Keys of Sacramento, Calif., Bridget Winters of Greenville and Ledoria Fisher of Aurora; a sister, Mabel Fisher Peterson of Vicksburg; and other relatives and friends.

Ann Marie Henderson Lewis.

Ann Marie Henderson Lewis died Tuesday, May 16, 2006, at her home in Vicksburg. She was 53.

Mrs. Lewis attended Temple High School.

Employed with Dr. and Mrs. Robert Clingan for more than 15 years, she had also been employed with Karl’s Department Store for 15 years. She was a member of Jubilee Revival Ministries.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Luerillers and Gladys Henderson; two brothers, Charles and Willie Henderson; and a sister, Lorraine Henderson.

Survivors include two sons, Larry Henderson and Patrick Lewis, both of Vicksburg; a daughter, Kwanda Thomas of Vicksburg; six sisters, Clarice Butler, Bobbie J. Williams, Christine Keys, Gladys Henderson, Hattie Henderson, all of Vicksburg, and Arrice Henderson of Detroit; a nephew she reared, Antonio Henderson; and other relatives and friends, including the Clingans and Carolyn Butler.

Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Alvin Harvey May.

Alvin Harvey May died Wednesday, May 17, 2006, at River Region Medical Center in Vicksburg, Miss. He was 92.

Born in Natchez, Miss., on Dec. 19, 1913, Mr. May had been a resident of Lorman for the past 10 years and, prior to that, a resident of Vicksburg more than 50 years. He was an avid gardener and sportsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He worked for several companies, including the International Tractor Company, LeTourneau and Vicksburg Chemical Company, and he retired from the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers Waterways Experiment Station. He owned and operated a timber and logging company and seafood market. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Lorman.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Arrie Davis May; his parents, John Harvey May and Annie Laura Christian May; stepmother, Mildred Windham May; two brothers, Robert Thomas May and Percy Allen May; and a half-brother, James Edwin May.

Survivors include two sons, Kent Radford May and Carl Rodney May, both of Vicksburg; a daughter Bettye Elaine Stephens of Lorman; a stepdaughter, Annie Louise Sullivan of Vicksburg; a half-brother, King David &#8220KD” May of Prentiss, Miss.; two half-sisters, Aline Kate Wade of Monticello, Miss., and Josephine Inez Anderson of Natchez; a stepbrother, John D. &#8220Billy” May of Tulsa, Okla.; three granddaughters, Michele Willis, Adriene Henderson and Cynthia Tselepis; and eight grandsons who will serve as pallbearers. He had 17 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous cousins.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Gene Steen officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 until 5 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Keith May, Tracy May, Carl May, Jr., Todd May, Miles Henderson, Justin May, Ronald May, Jerry Jones and Edward Willis.

Honorary pallbearers will be J.H. &#8220Slim” Sullivan, Aubrey Stephens, Edgar Cain, Wallace Raines, John Price, Mike Piazza, Mike Dent, Wilton Brown and Otto Hearn Jr.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Freddie Ray Platt.

Freddie Ray Platt died Thursday, May 18, 2006, at his home in Vicksburg. He was 83.

A native of Marion, La., Mr. Platt had lived in Vicksburg since 1967. Serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II and Korean War, Mr. Platt was employed with Louisiana Mill in Bastrop, La. He retired from International Paper Mill after 39 years. He was a member of Lighthouse Assembly of God.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Ernest and Sarah Velma Edwards Platt; and siblings.

Survivors include his wife, Rose Marie Platt of Vicksburg; a daughter, Velma Joy Platt Robbins of Pearl; a son, Michael Ray Platt of Eagle Lake; a brother, Wilbur Platt of Monroe; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Green Acres Memorial Park with the Rev. David Case and Dr. Frank Lescallette officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Saturday until the hour of service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Lighthouse Assembly of God, 1790 Sherman Ave., Vicksburg, MS, 39183.
