Nancy Lynn Howe Clingan.

Nancy Lynn Howe Clingan of Vicksburg died Saturday, Aug. 19, 2006, in Kailua, Hawaii. She was 65.

Mrs. Clingan was born in Santa Rosa, Calif., and was a graduate of Adolfo Camarillo High School in California. She attended the University of California at Berkeley and was a graduate of the Washington Hospital School of Nursing in Washington, D.C., and the University of Hawaii.

Mrs. Clingan was a retired captain of the U.S. Army Nurse Corps and a Vietnam War veteran, having served with the 67th Evacuation Hospital in Qui Nhon, Vietnam.

Before moving to Vicksburg in 1988, Mrs. Clingan lived in Kaneohe, Hawaii. She served six years as chairman of the Kaneohe Neighborhood Board and later as a commissioner of the Neighborhood Commission of the Island of Oahu. She was twice a candidate for the Hawaii legislature. She was a delegate representing Hawaii at the 1984 Republican National Convention.

She was named 1982 Hawaii Citizen of the Year by the Federal Executive Board for promoting civilian-military cooperation on Windward Oahu.

Mrs. Clingan was employed by the Army in civilian capacity as community development specialist and later as manager of the Health Care Finders Program for the Queen’s Health Care Plan in Hawaii.

After moving to Vicksburg, she served a six-year term as member and chairman of the Civil Service Commission of the City of Vicksburg. She also served six years as Mississippi representative on the Southeast Retired Military Council at Fort Rucker, Ala. She was chief nurse and director of Medical Support Services for The Street Clinic for a number of years.

Mrs. Clingan was a member of Parker United Methodist Church, Kaneohe, and a life member of the Hawaii Outdoor Circle.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Harriett Hougham Howe; and two sons, Alton Howe Clingan and John Hugh Clingan.

Mrs. Clingan is survived by her husband, Dr. Robert Clingan of Vicksburg; her father, Col. Odia E. Howe of Kailua; and a sister, Christine Grisell of Indianapolis, Ind.

Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 25, 2006, at Riles Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David McIntosh officiating.

Blaine Greer.

PORT GIBSON – Blaine &#8220Rambo” Greer died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2006, at his parents’ residence at Lake Claiborne. He was 44.

Blaine had lived most of his life in Vicksburg. He was a graduate of Warren Central High School and served in the U.S. Army for 10 years, receiving the Army Service Ribbon, Army Lapel Button, Army Good Conduct Medal and Overseas Service Ribbon.

He was an avid hunter and sportsman and enjoyed golf. He was a member of Port Gibson Baptist Church.

Blaine was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Billie M. Greer Sr.; and his maternal grandparents, Melvin and Cascille Pickett.

He is survived by two sons, Jeffery Alan Greer and wife, Stephanie, of Hoxie, Ark., and Kevin Mitchell Greer of Vicksburg; his parents, Monette and Mary Dell Greer of Port Gibson; a brother, Brian Keith Greer and wife, Dorian, of Vicksburg; his paternal grandmother, Thelma Greer of Port Gibson; and a granddaughter, Kady Ann’e Greer of Hoxie.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Glenwood Funeral Home in Vicksburg with the Rev. Tim Rowan officiating. Burial will follow at Hermanville Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Jeffery Greer, Kevin Greer, Brian K. Greer, Brian K. Greer II, Billy Leist and Wayne Bishop.

Lizzie Hudson.

Lizzie Hudson died Saturday, Aug. 19, 2006, at River Region Medical Center. She was 58.

Mrs. Hudson was a member of United Baptist Church in Edwards.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew Sr. and Caldonia Ragans; one sister, Pearlie Mae Norrise; and two brothers, Andrew Ragans Jr. and Leonard Ragans.

She is survived by four sons, Arthur James Hudson, Fitzgerald Marshall and Lewis Marshall, all of Vicksburg, and David Ragans of Port Gibson; one daughter, Flesia Ragans of Vicksburg; two brothers, Walter Ragans of Edwards and John Willie Ragans of Vicksburg; one sister, Geneva Wilson of Vicksburg; four grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

Rubye Lee Jones.

Rubye Lee Jones died Friday, Aug. 18, 2006, at River Region Medical Center in Vicksburg. She was 76.

Mrs. Jones retired from Old Southern Tea Room after 27 years of service. She received the restaurant manager of the year award in 1984. She was a member of Travelers Rest M.B. Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sgt. Carl Richard Jones; her parents, H.A. and Iran McAfee; a daughter, Havana Ann McCary.

She is survived by a brother, James Rowe of Chicago; two grandchildren; godchildren; and other relatives and friends, including Rosie L. Goodman of Vicksburg.
